Plans for an overnight in San Diego are on hold due to construction in the area.

Hopefully, once completed we will be able to offer the experience of sleeping aboard Pullman cars while traveling. Along with great meal and beverage service as well.

We are considering offering a rare opportunity to experience overnight travel aboard two vintage railroad passenger cars for the upcoming New Years holiday.

This would depart Los Angeles Union Station on New Year’s Eve evening and travel to San Diego. Overnight accommodations would be provided for up to 16 guests, with a variety of single and double occupancy options available.

A midnight supper would be served in San Diego to bring in the New Year.

Our chartered railcars would be the 1923 Pullman heavyweight business car, “Redwood Empire”, seen above; and the 1950 lightweight Pullman sleeping car, “Pacific Sands”. These two cars offer the best of sleeping space aboard.

At it’s peak, the Pullman Company provided more sleeping accommodations than any hotel chain in the world aboard trains traveling to destinations throughout the nation. This holiday excursion offers you the rare chance to experience it for yourself!

A light brunch will be served but passengers will have the better part of New Year’s Day to enjoy the attractions of San Diego before we return to Los Angeles. And en route back to the City of Angels, dinner will be served in the dining room of the “Redwood Empire”.

This promises to be a wonderful opportunity and we hope you will be able to join us aboard.

With regret, we wish to announce the cancellation of our trip to Seattle in August. We understand that the cost was a concern to many.

We are looking at plans for a lower cost experience with both travel and overnight accommodation aboard vintage railcars. A possible destination from Los Angeles would be San Diego for New Years Eve and New Years Day. Details may be announced later this fall. Space aboard would be limited to 16 passengers.

However, Amtrak will be increasing its rates in October. This trip will also include food and beverages aboard.

This promises to be a classic travel adventure and we look forward to having you join us.

Information on the Los Angeles to Seattle and back, August 22-27. A total of six days and 5 nights of vintage rail travel in a classic style, along what many consider to be the finest route of any Amtrak train along the West Coast of the United States.

Departing Los Angeles, on Thursday, August 22, behind Amtrak’s Coast Starlight. Arriving Seattle on Friday, August 23.

Layover in Seattle Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25. You will have two days to explore the Emerald City and nearby areas.

Departing Seattle on Monday, August 26 and arriving Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 27.

If you are a fan of Major League Baseball, the San Francisco Giants will be playing the Seattle Mariners both Saturday and Sunday, a short walk away from where our railcars will be parked at the King Street Station.

Prices: $4500 per person, double occupancy; $4750 per person, single occupancy. Bedrooms with upper and lower berths for double occupancy will be available in both the Redwood Empire and the Pacific Sands. Roomettes for single occupancy will be available in the Pacific Sands.

Our chartered railcars will be the business car Redwood Empire and sleeping car Pacific Sands. Meals and beverages will be provided en route. The two cars will be parked at Seattle’s King St Station and can be used as hotel space for the three nights we will be there. A continental breakfast will be available during our layover in Seattle.

With regrets, our planned trip for June from Chicago to Kansas City and return has been canceled.

The trip to Seattle from Los Angeles planned for August remains and we look forward to it with much anticipation.

Working on getting all the details in place for a trip from Chicago to Kansas City and back in early June. It’s a day trip by train each way. With meals and beverages aboard our chartered private railcar included. With three nights in Kansas City at a hotel near the historic Union Station.

But it does not begin or end there! In Chicago, we will visit a very special place, the Walt Disney birthplace, the home of Elias and Flora Disney.

And we will travel by train from Kansas City, to Marceline for a visit to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. Marceline was the place that truly inspired Walt’s imagination.

Back to Kansas City, it’s a day free to explore! Enjoy some great BBQ while you’re at it.

On the final day, we depart from the same station Walt Disney did as he boarded the California Limited bound for Los Angeles in 1923. He headed west, but we are back aboard our chartered railcar eastbound to Chicago, with more great meals and beverages to enjoy.

This trip will be limited to 16 passengers aboard.

Starting to firm up plans for 2024.

First, Chicago to Kansas City and back, June 3-6. Side trip to visit Marceline, MO and the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. Layover of 2 days in Kansas City.

Second, Los Angeles to Seattle and back, August 22-27. 2 days travel each way, and 2 days layover in Seattle. Added bonus, San Francisco Giants vs Seattle Mariners baseball.
