Barrett Farm

Barrett Farm Established in 1988
Small Family Daycare since 1997 At the Barrett Farm we foster independence, active listening skills, and unbounded joy. My home is unplugged.

I would love the opportunity to be your daycare provider. I have over 20 years experience as a licensed daycare provider, excellent references from previous clients, and a safe, healthy, and loving environment for your child. I have first-hand experience raising children. I have two successful, college age sons. I left the corporate world in 1997 and opened a small home daycare because I could not

find daycare that offered the care I wanted for my boys. We play and explore our environment while learning life skills to become caring citizens. I also take pride in offering nutritious, home cooked meals. I don't open boxes and heat food. I mix ingredients and show children how food becomes our food. All the baby food is made here in the home and children learn the importance of wholesome, clean food. And yes, we have chickens and a garden that the children use to learn about food when they become old enough and express interest. My goal is to work with parents and share the responsibilities of preparing your child for a classroom setting. I work individually and confidentially with parents to understand physical and behavioral needs for each child. If you need assistance, I offer tips for settling an infant to sleep with little parental assistance, easing separation anxiety, introduction of solid foods and potty training. I am very flexible and also very structured with our daily schedule. In my experience, I have learned that children love structure and thrive when they know their needs will be met every day at nearly the same time. I also understand the competitive work place and know there will be days that you might need more time to finish-up at the office. I am very flexible with extended hours and offer early drop-offs and late pick-ups when your employer needs you. I look forward to meeting you and your family. I want you to know that my home is your home when you need a safe place for your infant.

If they cancel the rest of the school year, students would miss approx 6 months of education. Many people are concerned about students falling behind because of this. Yes, they may fall behind when it comes to classroom education...

BUT WHAT IF ....

What if instead of falling “behind", this group of kids are ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out.

What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing.

What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet.

What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower?

What if this generation are the ones to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well run home?

What if they learn to stretch a dollar and to live with less?

What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home.

What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday?

What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place?

What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life?

What if they are AHEAD? 🙏🏼🏡♥️🏫

Data says swaddling a baby encourages REM and smaller movement encouraging deeper sleep.

My experience is swaddling helps reduce body movement from an underdeveloped nervous system and with less interruptions they learn better sleep patterns.

Let's provide more opportunities in school so children learn how to make decisions and develop an internal locus of control. This way a child can influence events and outcomes in their own lives and in return, we will have more children who are potentially less anxious and depressed, all which inhib...

W sitting puts strain on hips and knees.

W-sitting is when your child sits on the floor with knees together and feet on either side of their hips. It is called that because if you look at them from above, it looks like they are making a W with their body. If you see your child temporarily sitting in this position, or use …
