I know everyone has been saying the wb is really crowded but to be honest i haven’t noticed it. I’ve been putting in late, raft off the bank and no one else really doing this. They’re launching 200 yards downstream instead. Letting all the boats get down in front of me and taking my time. These guys don’t even realize it’s not happening til late anyway. Rowing right past the fish too. They’re sneaky right on the bank, biggest fish are rising in 6” of water…so funny watching guys row right past them. Most guys seriously have no clue its actually hilarious. Have had the whole river to myself letting the “boat show” row down. Big fish have been in the back channels. No exaggeration I saw 10 boats row right past this fish rising before I stuck him. First cast Fish took the “trusty rusty”, a standard spinner pattern I came up with that uses cdc for the wing and a quail feather shuck. Natural air bubbles and UV reflection created by the quail fibers looks just like a real spinner. Wide gap hook really strong from ahrex. Haven’t bent one all season. They’re cool bc a size 12 is really, like, a 16 and no one is using them. I’m on their guide program btw if you want some free hooks just lmk. That said, the fly works bc it’s Something different with the profile. Fish aren’t seeing them.No one is using a quail shuck spinner in this back channel I’ll bet my balls on it. Obviously presentation first and foremost though. Fly first. Gotta get that reach baked in. Longer leader w the trout hunter 5.5x really making a difference. Might’ve been a res fish bc it was spilling this spring and this guy had a silver tint to it.
