What is Mochi? It's is a Japanese soft and chewy snack made from mochigome (short-grain glutinous rice).

Why is it so popular? Because it's deliciously sweet and savoury, too!

Why it so important in Japanese culture? It has become a New Year tradition, it is said a god called Toshigami will visit, and offering them kagami mochi will bring good luck and strength for the new year.

Today, let's talk about PESTO!

Where does pesto come from? Genoa found in the Ligurian region of Italy.

Origin of the word: Pesto derives from the Italian verb pestare which means to crush something with a pestle to reduce it to powder.

What are the traditional ingredients? Basil, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, pine nuts, parmesan and coarse salt.

Why do so many people love it so much? It's bright, green and so healthy! Packed with Vitamin A & C, calcium, iron - this tasty sauce can be used with pasta but also in salads, meat and fish dishes. It's versatile and so delizioso!
