Some thoughts on London:

Our hotel, the Sheraton Grand Park Lane on Piccadilly in Mayfair, was in a great location. We were a 5 min walk to Buckingham Palace and just a couple of blocks from a centrally-located tube stop. This is a 5-star hotel with several dining options including a high tea service.

True to form, we downloaded a couple of Rick Steves’ excellent free walking tours and walked 20,000+ steps per day. We also ate and drank at several pubs and restaurants he recommends, including the excellent Dishoom in Covent Garden and very, very spicy and very good Sri Lankan spot called Hoppers in Marylebone.

We used the Heathrow Express train to return to the airport. This is a fast 15 min ride from Paddington Station directly to the airport.

What we didn’t need, surprisingly- umbrellas, jackets, or warm clothing. I was expecting chilly temps and rain, but instead we had warm weather and sun!

We have had a fantastic time aboard Virgin Voyages on our 5-night voyage from Portsmouth, England.

The service and food are consistently top-notch and I think this cruise line offers a great value. You will not get nickel-and-dimed on VV because almost everything is included in your fare.

Tomorrow we will disembark back in England and spend a few nights in London before heading home. This was my first Northern European cruise and it was very different than sailing from FL!

My husband and I are headed to England for a 5-night cruise in Virgin Voyages followed by a few nights in London.

Just booked! The Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay hotel, a property that is adjacent to Tokyo Disney.

This is a Tokyo Disney-affiliated hotel, similar to the Good Neighbor hotels here in the States. They have theme park view rooms and rooms that sleep up to six adults, a rarity in Japan. As an added bonus, it’s right on the monorail line, offering easy access to the parks.

I can’t wait to hear all about their trip!

TRON Lightcycle / Run will be dropping its virtual queue starting on September 9th and a new standby option will become available.

This is great news for folks who don’t like the added stress of trying to get in the queue in the app. This attraction will still be available as a Lightning Lane Single Pass.

I’m spending a few days at Disney’s Port Orleans - Riverside resort with our youngest son. This resort is a first for me; we usually opt for its smaller sister resort, French Quarter.

Riverside is lovely and I can see why it’s so popular. The grounds are lush and offer a lot of shade. They have fun activities like fishing, biking, carriage rides, a great pool, and campfires.

That being said, I think I prefer French Quarter simply because of the multiple bus stops at Riverside. It’s good to note that the only park transportation is the bus for both of these resorts. At the end of the night, I miss having the Skyliner as an option!

Pro tip:

If you’re in the parks and don’t have a dining reservation, you can join a walk-up list from the Disney World app.

There are a couple of ways to do this. You can find the restaurant on the map and join the list there, or you can do it from the search dining availability screen. Or, do it the old fashioned way and stop by the host stand to have them add you to their list.
