Christmas whale report The first whale spout was sighted today by the crew building camp - actually by Pati our chef who volunteered to be in camp on Christmas while the remainder of crew celebrate.

Christmas Eve 2008 I arrived at Kandahar Airbase to take over managing southern Afghanistan operations for a large military contractor. 6 hours later at 10pm Dec 24 I was awakened by a pounding and voices outside my container. Shouting our offices were on fire we stood in the freezing rain for hours until the base fire control okayed our bedtime That was my most memorable and perhaps worst Christmas Eve. Tonight my laptop took a hard fall killing the display I’m thankful to be watching the rain fall on the bayou which is now beautifully clear to see through the glass patio doors I installed this week

I love long layovers in Korea or Istanbul. Great star alliance lounges. With excellent food and coffee. Showers, massage chairs. Nobody to interface with. Just a calm quiet day watching planes and work on the laptop. The occasional maniacal rage takes place outside the lounges at the gates or checkin desk. Today 14 hours in Incheon. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
