Just a reminder that no matter how you book your travel, you are paying commission to someone. There is a commission built into every travel transaction. If you book online, you do the work, but the online travel agency gets paid. If you book straight through the vendor without an agent, they just keep the money they had budgeted to pay an agent - they don't give you a discount for not using an agent.
So - support your local travel agent and let them do the booking, rather than supporting the online agencies or the big vendors - and yes, they will allow you to do your own research if you want to - or BE the agent and get paid for work you are doing already anyway - and most likely get upgrades and perks that the online agencies don't give you. That just makes sense.
PM me if you'd like some examples of ways that agents travel better. :)
