Looking good for our May Journey!

COVID-19 News: Tourists of all ages will be allowed into Israel regardless of vaccination status starting from March 1, subject to a negative PCR test before takeoff and after landing.
There are more questions that I do not have the answers to right now, but hopefully, I will have more specific information in the next couple of days.

We do have some space available and it's not too late to join the group, although it will have to be very soon!!! If you would like to walk where Jesus walked, contact me right away.

Admin/TA: US Passport Price Increase starting Dec 27:

Effective December 27, 2021, the fee for obtaining a U.S. passport will increase by $20. This increase is a result of the passport security surcharge component of the passport application fee changing from $60 to $80.

The Department of State generally sets consular fees at an amount calculated to recover the costs to the U.S. government of providing the consular service. This fee change reflects steady increases in passport security-related costs since the fee was last updated.

If you are thinking about going to Israel, there are Covid entry requirements that must be met. Getting detailed information for what is required to enter Israel is a bit of a challenge right now and may or may not change at any time.

For our group in May 2021, the most important thing is to be vaccinated. (Yes we still have a few spaces left if you are interested!) Israel has a 180-day maximum stay after the initial vaccines. however, it does not appear to apply to the booster shots. In other words, if you are due for a booster go ahead and get it. If you are concerned that Israel might change its mind and require you to have the booster within 180 days of departing the country then the magic date for the booster would be any time Nov 21, 2021, or thereafter to be within 180 days for our May 2021 journey. Please ask any questions in the comments below since your question may be everyone's question! That way I can respond and everyone will have the same information.

Here are the current guidelines for entry from Israel

Current Guidelines (As of November 1st, 2021)
Taking a PCR test 72 hours before an outbound flight, filling out a passenger declaration, and taking a PCR test upon arrival in Israel (needing to quarantine in hotel until results return or 24 hours pass – the lesser of the two).

To enter the country, one must:
Have been vaccinated with two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least 14 days prior to the day of entry into Israel (14 days must have passed since receival of second dose upon arrival into Israel, but no more than 180 days upon leaving Israel - i.e., if it has been six months since the second dose, you will need the booster shot to enter).

Those that have received the booster vaccine dose, and at least 14 days have passed since received, can enter Israel.

Have been inoculated with one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 14 days prior to the day of entry into Israel (14 days must have passed since second dose receival upon their arrival into Israel, but no more than 180 days upon leaving Israel - i.e., if it has been six months since your second dose, you will need the booster shot to enter).

Those that have received the booster vaccine dose, and at least 14 days have passed since received, can enter Israel.
Have recovered from COVID-19 and who present proof of the results of a positive NAAT test at least 11 days prior to the day of entry into Israel (no more than 180 days upon leaving Israel).
Have recovered from COVID-19 and have received at least one dose of the WHO-approved vaccines.

What are the requirements for entry to Israel?
Travelers must be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the FDA and/or EMA

In case travelers’ second dose (first, in case of J&J) was given more than 180 days prior to departure date from Israel, travelers must be vaccinated with a booster shot in order to enter Israel.

Travelers must provide a negative PCR Test within 72 hours of travel to Israel

Travelers must submit to a second PCR test upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport and remain in isolation until a negative result is obtained, or 24 hours, the earlier of the two.

Before travel, you need to fill out an Entry Statement form no more than 24 hours before leaving. Once your form has been approved you will receive a Green Pass that you will present at the airport.

What if I was vaccinated more than 6 months prior to my visit in Israel?
You are required to have a booster shot if you were vaccinated more than 6 months prior to your departure date from Israel. The booster must have been administered at least 14 days before your date of departure to Israel.
Teens who have been fully vaccinated within the last 6 months are able to enter Israel following the guidelines stated above. If they are more than 6 months from being fully vaccinated, they will need a booster shot for entry.

Can my group arrive/depart on the same day, but different flights?
Yes, the group can arrive/depart separately.

Can my group arrive/depart on different days?
Yes, groups can arrive/depart on different days but only if they are not part of a group capsule, i.e., all group members meet the entry requirements without exemptions.

My group is doing a combination tour with other destinations before arriving in Israel. Is this permissible?
Yes, as long as the group is arriving from a green or orange country and they arrive following the criteria above, they can do a combination with other destinations. Their arrival must be by air, clearing customs through Ben Gurion Airport.

My group is planning to do a combination trip to Jordan after traveling in Israel. Can they cross by land?
Yes, under current regulations they can cross into Jordan by land but will need to return home via Amman. Please be sure to check regulations and restrictions with Jordan before finalizing arrangements.

Do I have to have a direct flight to Israel?
You are permitted to have a stop in another country if the country you are transitioning through is a green/orange country. If the country you are transitioning through is a red country, you will not be permitted to enter Israel.

Where can I find a list of the green and red countries?
You can visit https://corona.health.gov.il/en/country-status/ to see an up-to-date list of green and red countries.

What are the mandates for masks in Israel?
At this time, Israel is complying with the Green Pass directives. The mandates are that within public buildings masks will be worn. It is permissible to be outdoors without masks when gathering in small numbers. For additional information please visit the Ministry of Health webpage https://corona.health.gov.il/en/.

Note from Pam: As of Nov 9, there are options for those who are beyond 180 days from their vaccinations, however, they have more restrictions in Israel and must be tested every 72 hours. If you are traveling with me this will not be an option as we will not be dealing with multiple tests throughout the adventure. Get your vaccinations or booster as needed please!

"Israel will allow small foreign tour groups from selected countries to visit from September 19 under a pilot program to kick-start tourism, the government said on Sunday.

Tour groups of between 5 and 30 people from countries on Israel's green, yellow and orange lists will be allowed to enter the country provided all group members have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the tourism ministry said.

Foreign tourists must show proof they have received a second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within the last six months or a booster shot in order to qualify for entry."

Of course, this will be a moving target for a while as rules are determined based on need, but it is good to see them getting started again.
