🇹🇷🇹🇷🙌Friends! I can’t sleep with these images in my head. A friend of mine who I worked with in Sanliurfa, Turkey needs help. His family owns a building that was a wedding venue and restaurant now turned into a shelter for approximately 1500 earthquake victims! They are all sleeping in the building. He needs help with supplies, blankets, food. There are many thousands more he would love to help but can’t.

He’s running out of funds and international help groups aren’t getting to his area fast enough. All day the locals search through the rubble to find any hope of life. Their state isn’t helping, they’re alone. Instead of doing a go fund me and paying fees I’m asking for any of you who would or could donate to help. The money will go straight to the victims and providing the basic necessities and I’ll do my darnest to connect them with an international organization that may be able to help with more long term needs- although I know I have some amazing friends!

Maybe ignorance is bliss? Kudos to all of us for making it though the last year. My Utah friends also dealt with a major earthquake and thousands of aftershocks, my Oregon and CA friends dealt w wildfires, OR with ice storms and Texas with snowmaggedon. How do we prepare ourselves for imminent job loss, a year of 365 days straight of living an unpredictable future, and shutdowns galore. Zoom school melting kids’ brains, doing too much yard work and being really bored with being home. I might like to go back into time to pre-Covid world and walk around, seeing people’s smiles, freely giving hugs and laughing. Traveling freely. But all I can do is hope and pray that our world returns to that soon. Fear may linger for awhile after, but not forever.

I love graveyards. Love visiting passed family and friends, and reading headstones that haven’t been brushed off or visited in a while. Today I was blessed to have a great visit with my dad and visit my grandparents’ graves. It’s a beautiful cemetery that resembles a rolling hill in Ireland. 🇨🇦
