Throwback to 1993: The Production Planning Visit for The Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank fans, we have a rare piece of The Shawshank Redemption history to share—the 1993 Production Planning Visit video! This original footage was captured by Scott Stahler, Shawshank Redemption Location Assistant, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the early days of filming.

While the original quality had its challenges, Bob Watchman from the Shawshank Woodshop in Upper Sandusky took the time to fine-tune the audio, making it easier to hear and enjoy. As Bob put it, he “probably spent way too much time on this,” but as Andy told Red: “Time I have.”

Thank you, Scott, for preserving this piece of history, and thank you, Bob, for bringing a little 21st-century tech to this behind-the-scenes gem! Watch the video here.

We're thrilled to introduce the latest additions to our Paranormal Program: The Paranormal Institute and the Paranormal Membership Program!

Paranormal Institute (Ages 13+) Embark on a four-phase adventure into the paranormal! This program offers both classroom and hands-on training. You'll learn about the history of the paranormal, proper investigation techniques, debunking methods, and how to use ghost-hunting equipment. Each phase includes a 1-2 hour classroom session followed by a 4-hour guided investigation of the reformatory. Complete all levels to earn your Ohio State Reformatory Paranormal Membership!
