Our Story

Established 2015

The idea for a travel agency was born in a small high school in the upstate of South Carolina. It was my junior year when I became infatuated with travel. My family didn't go on many vacations, but the ones we did greatly influenced me. I loved reading about destinations and researching each of them to learn more. This is when I realized that it wasn't just about being able to travel and experience different places, it was the planning and research that went along with it that got me excited. I decided then and there that I was going to be a travel agent later in life.

It was in college that I decided to explore another career path that had always interested me; law enforcement. I attended the South Carolina Police Corp program at the Citadel for my law enforcement training. The Police Corp was a United States Department of Justice program with the goal of putting more college educated officers on the streets of our cities. I ended up working for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff and the skills and lessons I learned there are still with me today.

After getting my feel for the police profession, I decided to make a change and get more use out of my business administration degree. After working for a couple intermediate companies, I found myself back at Charleston County in the Economic Development Department. My official title is the Director of Finance and Technology. I oversee the department's annual budget and financial matters, administer financial incentives entered into by the County, and maintain and acquire all technology assets for the department.

After a couple years working in this new role, I decided to rekindle my dream of owning a travel agency. I began the research and process of opening up my company and within a few months time, Palmetto Travel Agency was born. We originally started off selling Disney Parks and Resorts, then slowly added Universal Parks and Resorts, Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. We have chosen vendors that we love and know and have limited ourselves to them in order to be the most knowledgeable and give our clients the best experience. We pride ourselves on knowing a lot about a little and not a little about a lot. But rest assured, if and when we do add vendors to the list, we will fully research and learn every aspect of their operation before representing them to our clients.

I've been called an old soul. My idea for an ideal travel agency is to serve clients the way companies use to serve their customers in the days of past. Customer service is our number one priority and we take great strives to ensure our clients' best interest is at the heart of every decision we make. We don't try and sell our clients products they neither want nor need. For us, it is about the relationship more than the profit. We treat our clients' vacation as if they were our own and give them the same time and attention to detail. The only thing we want our clients to worry about is what to pack.

Our agents are dedicated business professionals and each work full time jobs and sell travel on the side to fulfill their passion for the destinations we represent. Even though we are part time, our clients will never have a part time experience. We are dedicated to serving our clients when and where they need us. In this digital age, we primarily operate our business online using our website, social media, text and email. We're not against using the phone, but we have found these other tools to be more efficient and beneficial. Did I mention...our planning and booking services are 100% FREE! We make our money off of commission from our vendors. It doesn't make your trip more expensive by using us, it just means our vendors are willing to take less if we help sell their destinations. You'll never pay more using us than you would on your own. Our worth is in our knowledge of our destinations and knowing how to navigate their systems to deliver exactly what our clients are wanting. It's also worth noting that if you don't book with us or cancel after you do book, we don't get paid even though we've put in the time and effort. So please be mindful of that whether you use us or any other travel agency to book your trips.
