Last week, nearly 1,000 employees at the National Park Service were fired. This agency, which is responsible for preserving and managing our beloved national parks, was already critically understaffed and struggling with a massive backlog of maintenance work.

Since COVID, park attendance has skyrocketed, but funding to support these increased crowds has not. Chronic underfunding by Congress has left park staff overwhelmed, leading to longer wait times, deteriorating facilities, and less ability to protect the landscapes we all cherish.

Now, with even fewer employees, these challenges will only grow. Our parks are already overcrowded and underfunded—this latest blow will make things worse.

If you love our parks, now is the time to act! 📢

🔥 Call your representatives—Congress is currently working on the next fiscal year budget, and we need to demand proper funding for our national parks. Every voice counts!

🌿 If you’re visiting a park, be patient—the dedicated staff are doing their best with limited resources.

🚯 Leave no trace—pack out your trash to reduce the burden on already strained waste management systems.
