We finished off our last day at Kruger yesterday with two game drives, a bush walk as well as a special farewell dinner. The game drives were a bit quieter than the days before, but we had the opportunity to track a few wild dogs for almost an hour!
African wild dogs are endangered and there are 7 pups on the property that we tried to find on the morning drive. We finally found the 2 males and 1 female during the evening drive, but they had left the pups to hunt for dinner. The mama dog was sadly killed by lions and the males have adopted the new female into the pack to help with the pups.
This was one of my favorite sightings and I loved getting to follow these gorgeous dogs around!
Second elephant video! More of the teen elephant playing and having a standoff with our guide!
The second video! This leopard was dragging her prey to the top of the tree so the hyenas couldnโt steal it!
Today, we traveled from Cape Town to Hodespruit, and transferred to Kruger National Park. We had a quick turnaround from arriving at the Pondoro Game Lodge to our first safari (which lasted 4 hours!), so I canโt wait to share more about our luxurious accommodations! But first - videos from our incredible animal encounters today! The first was a โteenโ elephant that just wanted to play. He was absolutely beautiful! The second video I will post on was an experience that I never expected - a night sighting of a leopard taking his kill - an impala - up a tree so the hyenas canโt eat it.We were so in awe today and could go home happy - with only 1 game drive into our total of 5! We cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds!
