The French Traveler An insider's view of France Small group travel only to France, customized. We spend time in one place and fan out from there; you'll unpack only once.
(5)

Travel with your own friends or join like-minded souls searching out intercultural experiences and appreciating the differences. Smell the flowers, taste the wines, peruse the markets....slow down and take your time. For language teachers, we host a language workshop in a different city in France each summer. We focus on the contemporary cultural issues of France with morning seminars and afterno

on excursions, leisure time and optional activities. We speak only French; we also laugh a lot. When we’re not engaged in animated discussions about France today, we're collectively pooling ideas for new lesson plans or perhaps spending our free time in the monuments, museums or bookstores we’ve been longing to visit. For those who love cultural tourism, we offer a host of small group tours. Paris for Women trip in the fall and spring of each year gives a wonderful overview of what the city offers in feminine delights and old world charm, and Wine with Everything is a great girlfriend getaway in Provence in August.

The Basque Country of France is that it is home to the unique Basque language, Euskara, which is unlike any other language in the world. Unlike most languages in Europe, Euskara is not related to any Indo-European language family. Its origins are still a mystery, and it is considered one of the oldest languages in Europe. The language is a crucial part of Basque identity and culture, and efforts to promote and preserve it are strong in both the French and Spanish Basque regions.

Did you know that Bayonne is known as the "Capital of Chocolate" in France. The city's love affair with chocolate dates back to the 17th century when Jewish immigrants from Spain brought their chocolate-making skills to the region. Today, Bayonne is famous for its artisanal chocolate shops and hosts an annual chocolate festival called "Fête du Chocolat," celebrating this rich history.

Stagiaires from our Dijon trip- who can forget our magnificent guide, Sylvain, and his magnificent recounting of the story of Vercingétorix? TV5 Monde USA is playing a recent documentary on their show "Secrets d'Histoire" called "Vercingétorix: le premier des Gaulois" on their TV5 Style channel available on Sling TV.

We will never forget our faithful bus driver, lead by Sylvain, climbing higher and higher to the summit at Alésia to bring us to this monument!

Merci, Sylvain, pour les beaux souvenirs!

One of the many thrills for our tours is the free time we allow our travelers to discover corners of the city on their own. This summer in Dijon was no exception. Check out these pâtisseries. We can confirm that the 1 (or 2!) that we tasted were out of this world.

On many of your bucket lists is no doubt the city of Biarritz! We’ll spend an afternoon there. It's home to surfers, beach lovers, casino gamblers, and favorite city of Napoléon III and Eugénie, who built the stunning Résidence Impériale.

La coquille s’est imposée comme emblème de tous les pèlerins

One of our excursions we're most excited about is a visit to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. It's the beautiful hill town of the area and it's not only a stopover for pilgrims on the chemin de St-Jacques but the location of the famous battle at Roncevaux which is so well recounted in the 12th c. Chanson de Roland.

Yes, it's la rentrée, but think about joining us next summer in the Basque country!
