Carnaval 2025: Veinte Años

Saturday, March 1, 2025
7:30 pm

NHCC | Albuquerque Journal Theatre

The National Hispanic Cultural Center will celebrate Veinte Años of Carnaval at the Albuquerque Journal Theatre. Carnaval 2025 will once again showcase Frank Leto and PANdemonium, along with the dancers from Odara Dance Ensemble. This vibrant production takes the audience on a journey to four iconic Carnaval destinations—Brazil, Trinidad, Cuba, and New Orleans—immersing them in the music, dance, costumes, and cultures of each region. This year, attendees will be invited to dance to the lively rhythms of samba, salsa, calypso, and more.

$28 w/ $2 off for children 10 years old and younger, seniors and NHCC members. This is a general admission event.

Frigid start to the week, but at least the trails are dry! Ark Hills trails are mostly good to go (Duderino and Dude Abides are the only ones still holding lots of snow). On Methodist Mountain, expect lumpy ice, and maybe bring snowshoes or a fatbike.

Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site will be closed on New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

In the spirit of the season, we want to share an excerpt from Rudolph Friedrich Kurz's journal, written between 1851 and 1852, which provides insight into the holiday experience at Fort Union.

On New Year's Eve, Kurz wrote: "Farewell, Old Year. At your beginning, you exposed me to severe trials, but all is well as you draw to a close. Once more my hopes are high, my courage unabated."

We wish everyone a safe and happy new year, and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2025!
