Another Best Day Ever! Hiking the Levada do Caldeirão Verde 🌿✨

Levadas are Madeira’s old-school water channels, now doubling as hiking trails through forests, cliffs, and waterfalls. Caldeirão Verde was one of five I tackled—and easily my favorite.

With record rainfall these past two weeks, water was everywhere—pouring over cliffs, rushing underfoot, misting the air. The narrow trails had some serious drop-offs, and after four dark tunnels, it honestly felt like a Disney ride.

Managed to stay upright, but my head? Let’s just say the tunnels won that round. Totally worth it!

This January I’ve been embracing the nomadic road warrior lifestyle, and let me tell you—it’s been effective and SO MUCH FUN!

I kicked things off with four action-packed days in Cape Town, putting the finishing touches on my upcoming Roam South Africa women’s trip. From curating WOW moments to fine-tuning details with our guides, I’m thrilled to report that everything is set, and the countdown is officially ON!

Next? Co-hosting a Virtuoso Voyages Regent cruise from Cape Town to Rio. Out of 14 days on board, we had NINE glorious sea days—talk about the ultimate work setting! Picture this: a luxury suite, endless ocean views, and uninterrupted time to focus on my business while creating itineraries for my amazing clients. And guess what? It paid off—Mangata Travel has had its best start to the year ever. Highly recommend this strategy!

In between all the action? Three hot and sandy days in the Namibian dunes. I’ve always been fascinated by them, and they did not disappoint. Think nature’s ultimate roller coaster

But alas, the cruise came to an end. Two weeks of peak productivity and pure relaxation— hello, Rio!

If you go to Rio, I promise that song will live rent-free in your head the whole time.

* Soaring through the skies hang-gliding
* Prime-time people-watching

Next stop: a short flight to Iguazu Falls for a few days. Staying at Belmond’s Las Cataratas was fab. Imagine waking up to the sights and sounds of the legendary waterfalls right from your hotel patio.

And now? I’m heading to the beach for a few final days of sun and sand before making my way home.

Tallinn has been on my radar for years and wow- it’s fab! This sweet seaside city is known for its magical Christmas markets and they’re living up to the hype and more!

After our go-go-go pace of Amsterdam, Tallinn’s slower, cozy vibe is perfect. With only 6 hours of daylight, our travel routine has totally shifted:

🛌 Sleep in (it’s dark until 10 and these beds are soooo comfy).
☕️ Brunches at cute cafés in the town square.
🛍 Wandering, shopping, and exploring until sunset at 3:30pm.
🎄 Soaking in the Christmas market magic.
🍽 Dinner in town.
🛌 A hot chocolate nightcap and back to our comfy beds.
