Day one of backpacking in the Indiana Dunes:

Site 2 has a good location but not great trees for hammocks. We doubled up our straps and have one hammock and one tent so we are still calling it a win.

Dinner was rated a 4.8 by the younger camper who is typically a picky eater. For less than $7, it will be a repeat purchase for sure.

Things to consider:

If you want to hammock camp here with two hammocks, consider site 5. It is the furthest away from parking however.

There are flush toilets, an outdoor shower, and a bottle fill station just up the path to the beach and the water tastes excellent.

Bring your own firewood!

Oh! And no matter the time of year, don’t forget a good hoodie for when the sun goes down.

Wonka was a must see! Everyone young and old very much enjoyed it.

Savings tip: sign up for the Cinemark MoviePass and get a ticket each month, 20% off concessions, and no online fees.

Kid tip: snag the kid snack bucket for only $7 and they get popcorn, a slushie, and fruit snacks.
