🌅 Trip Review: Lindblad Expeditions Panama/Colombia Adventure 🌏

I recently embarked on an unforgettable journey aboard the Nat. Geo Quest, sailing from the vibrant heart of Panama City to the coastal charm of Cartagena, alongside my 22-year-old son. 🚢❤️

Our overnight stay on Gatun Lake was a standout highlight, giving us the chance to truly immerse ourselves in the marvel that is the Panama Canal—an engineering masterpiece that captivated us both. Every step of our adventure was enriched by the knowledgeable Lindblad Expedition Team of Naturalists, who provided fascinating narratives and insights into each of our destinations.

Colombia was a revelation—few Americans venture there, yet we felt completely safe throughout. The voyage was a whirlwind of activity: snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, kayaking through serene landscapes, hiking lush trails, and soaking in layers of culture and history. We connected with the vibrant community of the Guna Yala (San Blas Islands), explored a private rainforest reserve teeming with wildlife, and even enjoyed a joyous dance with local schoolchildren in Capurgana, Colombia. Standing on the border of two beautiful countries was a memory etched in time.

🚢 About the Ship and Experience 🌊

The Nat. Geo Quest felt like a home away from home. Although the rooms are cozy without locks—an adjustment at first—it soon felt as natural and comforting as being in a bedroom or a safari tent. The culinary offerings were incredible, catering to even the most discerning tastes, and every crew member embodied warmth and happiness.

This is not a luxury cruise, and that was part of its charm. There was no pressure for makeup, hair, or fancy attire. Most days, I donned my trusty expedition gear—lightweight, breathable clothing suited for exploration. The dining experience was always relaxed and informal.

Rescuing Our Children serves children in extreme poverty who live in a high crime neighborhood where most parents do not have a job to bring money into the house. Many children only have one meal a day.

Often at an early age, these children become part of gangs. Some of the children have been abused and mistreated. Our hope is that this room will become a place where these children can receive a daily meal and also receive emotional guidance and support.
