Whatever you do, don't make THIS destination wedding travel mistake! ⬇️
DO NOT — I repeat DO NOT — mail anything to an international resort! It could seem convenient to do on the surface, but there's a chance that anything you mail will get stuck at customs.
This is why:
When you mail items to an international destination, customs officers must check and inspect packages. Customs is a slow process and can delay your packages for weeks or even months — not to mention dealing with shady situations where your packages can be "lost" or stolen.
Worst case scenario, you could also be charged an extra tariff (tax) if it's determined that your packages are suspicious.
That's why things like favors, welcome bags, and anything else important should go in your checked bag instead so you don't lose your items. 🤍

Just over here remembering when I was 8 years old and "hosted" a talk show with our family's VHS camcorder. (Circa 1988?!) Not only that, I pretended I was the host of the Oprah Winfrey Talk Show... 😂 🎥 The plot twist to all this? I ended up meeting her in person years later when I was working in the corporate world! Having been in the destination wedding travel advisor industry for nearly a decade now (!!!), we've found that, while we want wedding guests to book through the couple's room block (hello, perks!) air travel is one of the aspects of travel where people have strong preferences for when/how they want to fly.
So, we give guests the flexibility to book their own air.
However, we've also learned that there's a lot of potential for mistakes and mishaps when it comes to air travel since not everyone is an experienced traveler. That's why we TRIPLE check guest flight info for mistakes. (Tune into the Reel to find out the top mistakes we see people making and how to mitigate these mistakes.)
We do things like verify guest flight info to check for any mistakes (we actually find a lot!) and help at a moment's notice if something goes wrong. We also use third-party platforms to track our couples' airfare to ensure we're always updated with the latest news about delays so we can fix any issues that arise.
Because of unexpected travel delays, guest mistakes, and so many other things, THIS is why it's so important to have a wedding destination travel advisor.
And in my opinion, having someone put out fires for you is WAY better than trying to put out the fires yourself, if it has to happen. 😉
