A magnitude 7.5 earthquake hit Noto peninsula in Japan on January 1st and destroyed the town which I grew up and love. 79 people have been confirmed dead, many are injured, and the numbers are climbing. Residents are in evacuation shelters with limited basic necessities and will be displaced indefinitely.
