If you could be one place right now, where would you be? For us, it would be on a beach in Africa, especially as winter in Seattle is setting in.

We’ve seen some stunning tropical destinations, but a few truly stand out:

🌊 Desroches Four Seasons, Seychelles – a private paradise on a lush coral island. -

🏝️ Kisawa, Mozambique – a sanctuary of forest, beach, and sand dunes at the tip of Benguerra Island. -

🐟 Mnemba, Zanzibar, Tanzania – a seafarer’s paradise on a private island steeped in culture and history. -

🐚 Miavana Time & Tide, Madagascar – for exclusivity, adventure, and an unspoiled horizon not to mention some of the best diving around. -

🌴 HBD Príncipe, São Tomé – off the west coast of Africa, here you’ll find one of the most biodiverse rainforests on the planet, golden beaches, and communities deeply connected with nature.

Just thinking about Africa’s blue-water beaches is enough to get us through the winter blues—but counting down to a trip would make it that even better. Browse our safari and sand itineraries—linked in bio.

Ins and outs and ups and downs of traveling with little ones, we know it all. Especially traveling with toddlers can be stressful but it should never hold you back from going on amazing trips.

We’ve pulled together some insider tips from Nick and Ashley on traveling with your kids in Africa. Experiencing Africa as a family is uniquely enriching, and we’re here to help streamline your trip.

Top three tips include traveling with an inflatable seat for the airplane, packing anti-itch bug sticks, and having handy snacks your toddler loves (think goldfish crackers, chickpea snacks, freeze-dried fruit, etc.). For the complete rundown from the experts hop over to link in the bio.

One of the benefits of knowing Africa so well? We can create incredible trips any time of year. Shoulder season—those quieter periods outside peak travel times—is one of our favorites. Here’s why:

✔️ More flexibility to secure your ideal itinerary—lodges, locations, and experiences.
✔️ Fewer visitors mean quieter, more personal wildlife encounters.
✔️ Better value with lower rates, so you can spend more on extras like private charters or exclusive game drives.
✔️ Less hectic airports, making travel smoother all around.
✔️ Each season brings its own distinct beauty to Africa’s landscapes.

If you’re ready to swap the Northern cold for an African adventure, reach out—we’d love to help you plan.

Looking back at Chris and Jana’s trip in 2021, they went to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana which according to them, was “the best safari experience imaginable.”

They’ve now planned two trips with YPA and “will absolutely be using YPA again when it comes time to plan our third trip to Africa in the next couple of years.” - Chris and Jana

Is Africa on your bucket list for 2025? Here are 5 ideas to get the sparks flying...

1. Escape the crowds in Tanzania – from prolific wildlife in the Serengeti to chimpanzees in remote Mahale, your safari is truly on your terms.
2. Take the path less traveled to Madagascar where the island is teeming with life both on land and beneath the sea.
3. Experience a safari all to yourself with new exclusive-use villas in East Africa for a perfectly tailored safari.
4. Head North to Morocco for culture, history, and desert landscapes.
5. Experience the classic desert and Delta in Botswana for some of the best lion and elephant sightings on the continent.

Spotting a cheetah in the wild is already a rare treat, so you can imagine our excitement when we witnessed one on a kill during our recent trip to Madikwe.

These majestic cats are elusive on safari, partly because they hunt solo and rely on speed and stealth over strength.

If raw natural beauty in pristine African wilderness is what you’re after, then Singita Pamushana in Zimbabwe should be on your list!

Nestled into a rocky ridge, Singita Pamushana Lodge and Malilangwe House (a private-use villa) offer sweeping views across the reserve and the enigmatic Malilangwe Dam. With every imaginable creature comfort, we love how each day brings a new opportunity to explore—from bush walks and boating to game drives and historic African rock art.

Seeking an active safari adventure? Here are a few ideas to keep you moving on safari!

🏞️ Explore Rwanda’s lush forests on a gorilla trek.
⛰️ Consider a private climb up Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
🌄 Hike the iconic Big Daddy Dune in Namibia.
