The EDDM software:
•Will generate a short list of high probability (most likely) differential diagnoses based on combined Bayes' theorem and Ockham’s razor.
•May work as a medical alert system regarding critical diagnoses and help reduce diagnostic delay, prevent diagnostic error and improve patient safety
•May help reduce the gap between expert and novice by making higher quality differential di
agnoses available to novices at the beginning of the diagnostic work-ups.
•Will help medical students, interns, residents and mid-level health care providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants) to focus on a short list of highly probable (most likely) differential diagnoses.
•Will help nurses to understand diagnostic decision making process and help deliver better patient care.
•May help reduce malpractice worries as well as unnecessary diagnostic work up.
