Unfortunately, sometimes providing great service means helping someone end a vacation. Cliff and his wife had an amazing self-driving vacation planned through 6 countries, but had to return home early. We helped them cancel everything and get as much in refunds as possible, tracked all the dollars, and helped them prepare a travel insurance claim. One day, we hope to get them back to their vacation.

The sea lions are amazing in the Galapagos. Like all the other animals, they aren’t afraid of us. They’re very curious and friendly. They love to swim right up to us and play.

This is the Post Office on Floreana Island in the Galapagos. People leave post cards and then subsequent visitors check to see if any are addressed near places they will be. If so, they hand deliver them. We found two postcards with addresses near home, so we will hand deliver them once we return. And we also left two postcards to hopefully be delivered one day.

This luxury vacation to the Galapagos included a chartered plane between Quito and the islands. Notice all the center seats onboard were unoccupied. Very nice!

I was able to be in the Northern and Southern hemispheres at the same time. I’m so extra! We visited the Intiñan Equator Museum and learned about the 14 different indigenous cultures of Equador, how one tribe shrinks heads, and about the equator. I moved between Summer (Northern hemisphere) and Winter (Southern hemisphere) with just a couple of steps.

Due to tours in Europe, I’m pretty tired of seeing churches, especially Baroque style churches. But, today, I toured churches in Quito, Ecuador and the first is maybe the most beautiful one I’ve seen. It took 160 years to build La Compañía. It’s based on Roman architecture and Baroque style with elements also from Moorish design. There is gold and gold leaf everywhere. Just about every surface glistened in gold. Contrasting that, the outside is made from carved volcanic stone from the nearby Pichincha volcano that stands just over the church and Quito. -Chris
