I love this photo I took of an ancient water oak. It's probably one of the oldest trees in Muskogee. I always include a stop for a photo here on my Sadler/Capital walking tour. What stories this tree could tell. Perhaps of a visit from Alice Robertson and her mother Ann Eliza to Annie Severs. Annie and Ann Eliza worked together to translate the New Testament into the Muskoke language.

Join me for the Bass Reeves Memorial on January 13, 2024 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in Muskogee. Due to an overwhelming response, we have moved the event to this larger venue. Dress for the weather as we will have an outdoor New Orleans style procession (unless it is raining or too cold).
