On this Flag Day, I’m remembering the day I stopped and paused at this flag. A day I walked through DCA - Ronald Reagan Airport leaving DC on the earliest flight I could get. It was the week prior to Memorial Day and I left my husband and boys in DC to finish up Memorial Day festivities - Filming a set up socially distanced parade around the National Mall to air on the actual holiday. I left them with our Purple Heart family while I flew back to Georgia to be with my mom and sisters after my dad was in an accident.

I remember walking in to go to my terminal and being captivated by the majesty and wonder of this massive flag… grateful for the support of the veterans and families who were there in DC with my family while I prayed things would be ok as I flew to Savannah.
