Cruise ship tourism will become a reality in Puerto Peñasco
*They preceded with working groups to coordinate efforts and protocols prior to the arrival of the Sea of Cortez Cruise.

Because the arrival of the cruise ship Astoria to Puerto Peñasco is an imminent reality, in this first meeting were discussed the issues related to migration procedures for passengers, boarding, shipping authorizations, transfers and hotels among many other details aimed at facilitating the entry of cruise passengers expected for the first crossing by the Sea of Cortez on December 7.
There, COFETUR subcoordinator Héctor Platt emphasized the need for commitment and coordination between migration agencies, customs and maritime authorities to expedite and facilitate entry to the border and arrival at other Mexican ports that will touch this cruise without any problem.
For his part the Director of Operations of Cruise and Maritime Voyages, John Dennis asked each of the representatives their availability to start the necessary processes for the start of the first cruise "Astoria".
"This is joint work. We are going to work with the Navy, with the state of Arizona and with people from Puerto Peñasco. We must form a port marina plan and work with hotels and tour operators in Peñasco.
In his speech, Hector Vasquez del Mercado, president of the Puerto Peñasco CPVO, thanked the migratory and maritime authorities present for their willingness and called on them to coordinate the entry processes so that the Sea of Cortez cruise can begin in the best possible way.
Were present as sector authorities Juan de los Santos Quintero, Terencio Gutierrez representing the local government, Martin Martin Martinez of FONATUR, customs representatives Sonoyta, the captain of Puerto Luis Castro Galan, Julio Cesar Navarro Contreras of the National Institute of Migration, the director of the Office of Conventions and Visitors of Puerto Peñasco Lizette Ibarra and the secretary of CPVO Oscar Palacio Soto among other representatives.
To continue their agenda also held a meeting with directors of hotels, rental operators and tour operators, COFETUR subcoordinator Hector Platt, John Dennis Operations Director of Cruise and Maritime Voyages and CPVO Director Puerto Peñasco Lizeth Ibarra of CPVO called them to close ranks and trust in the arrival of the Cruise that will make its crossing by the Sea of Cortez.
"It is important that they feel supported and secure, there is a close relationship with the shipping company, it is not something improvised, you have two years working with a lot of passion in this that is a reality." explained the representative of COFETUR.
In his speech John Dennis explained the procedures for arrival and transfer of cruise passengers to the terminal building that will be in the Convention Center and invited them to have approaches with the shipping company to offer their services. It is intended that the season of cruises by the Sea of Cortez has an influx of 3,000 cruise passengers mainly from the United States. As hotel representative Oscar Palacio Soto stressed the importance of joining this project that begins operations in December this year and will benefit the hotel and service sector in the winter season which is generally a period of lower tourist influx.
In this working group were attended questions about the offer of accommodation services and transfer to the cruise market which will be proposed to arrive at Puerto Peñasco at least two nights before the departure of the cruise, also made a commitment between the Office of Conventions and Visitors to make a directory with the options of hotel companies and condominium complexes, as well as transport services and tour operators.
Héctor Platt of COFETUR invited those present to get involved in this new voyage that he surely said will bring with it the need to retake airlines and that will undoubtedly be a before and after in the history of the Sea of Cortez.
