Dropping my son Tyler off at college was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. His university was six hours away, and I cried the whole drive home. If you’re an empty nester—or will be one soon—I bet you can relate. For Tyler’s entire senior year of high school, I kept counting down the “lasts.” The last away baseball game. The last night at home. When he left, I knew I needed to replace all those “la

sts” with “firsts,” to fill my newly quiet days (I didn’t realize how noisy a teenager was until he was gone!) with moments to look forward to. Enter: Travel. I’ve always been a traveler, ever since my first enchanting visit to Europe as a teen. Adding more travel experiences back into my life as an empty nester allowed me to get back in touch with my own passions and my sense of curiosity. Above all, it allowed me to deepen my relationships with loved ones in new ways. My husband and I got to reconnect on long-weekend escapes and sunny cruises through the Caribbean, the types of trips we often put off with a kid at home. Meanwhile, Tyler and I traveled together on his school breaks, and it was always a riot. Now, I was no longer in “nagging mom” mode, but could fully enjoy exploring alongside my son as I got to know the fun and funny adult he was becoming. A New Stage Brings New Adventures

2. I grew up in a tiny town in Hawaii, and I now live in a small town in Oklahoma—so I know how important it is to travel beyond your own borders!

3. When I’m not planning travel, you can find me enjoying a bottle (or two) of red wine with my husband or cheering at baseball games with my son.

4. My most recent favorite destination? On my bucket list? Slovenia.

I am beyond excited to experience an adventure on the number one selling National Geographic itinerary with my G Adventures family: the incredible Cape Town & Kruger National Park tour!

My journey begins at the One&Only Cape Town, perfectly situated in the city’s most coveted location. I'll be waking up to majestic views over Table Mountain or perhaps the glittering marina from my sprawling private terrace. The interiors blend contemporary and traditional African aesthetics, creating a truly unique and luxurious stay.

After soaking in the beauty and culture of Cape Town, we'll head to Johannesburg. We’ll explore the city's rich history, including the legacy of Nelson Mandela, and venture into the world-renowned wildlife reserves. At Kruger National Park, I'll be on the lookout for the "big five" and meeting researchers from the Endangered Wildlife Trust's Carnivore Conservation Programme.

They started their journey in Honolulu, staying at the iconic Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach. With its unbeatable location spanning 600 feet of oceanfront shoreline on legendary Waikiki Beach, this resort offers the perfect blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury. They also be enjoyed a breathtaking Sunset Catamaran Mai Tai Cruise soaking in the stunning Hawaiian sunset.

Next, they headed to Kauai and stayed at the serene Ko'a Kea Hotel & Resort, where they truly embodied the easygoing essence of Kaua`i. “Erin was professional in planning our 10th wedding anniversary trip. She was patient and detailed. We originally planned to visit Italy, but decided to change our plans a few months out. She didn't miss a beat with pivoting in another direction. We travelled to Oahu for 3 days and Kauai for 4 days. Our accommodations and activities were stellar! She created a daily itinerary that included all the travel details we needed. This made the process of checking in to our hotel, attending our activities and traveling to the other island effortless. Also, the concierge Oscar was responsive by text throughout our trip. Both he and Erin helped to rectify an issue with Avis when they rented a car that couldn't be valeted due to out of date registration. He was helpful and kind. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Erin!”

The Garrett Family is all set for their annual trip in 2025, and this year, they're off to Italy and France! They planned early and once again entrusted CCTP to curate the perfect family adventure. It was a pleasure to collaborate with the Garretts through several meetings and discussions to ensure every detail is perfect.

In Sorrento, they'll stay at the charming Hotel Tonnarella, which boasts its own private beach. Their Roman stay will be at the elegant Palazzo Ripetta, a 5-star hotel in a central location, complete with a stunning rooftop cocktail bar. Special arrangements include the possibility of early morning access to the Vatican.

Their itinerary is packed with unforgettable experiences: a cruise along the Amalfi Coast, a farm tour and harvest experience in Sorrento with a cooking class, a Vatican tour, a fun-filled golf cart tour of Rome with tastings, and the Borghese Experience, including the gallery and gardens.

In Paris, they'll explore St. Chappelle and Notre Dame, enjoy a Seine River Cruise & Dinner, learn the art of macaron making in a class, and take a special tour of the Galerie Dior.

It's going to be an amazing trip full of unique activities and memorable moments!
