BACK FROM ARGENTINA
The Traveller - TraveloGanza.com
For a few days, Travel-O-Ganza, the Travel Club for Friends and Colleagues, paid a visit to Argentina, the second largest country in South America. The Group explored Buenos Aires, Iguazu (the Falls are there), San Isidoro, la Plata (the university town), etc.
They seized the opportunities to cruise on the Tigre River and to attend the world-renown tango dinner show at Tango Porteno.
The Group froze in iconic memory picture moments at the Obelisk, Camino de la Boca, Bombonera Stadium, Recoleta, Casa Rosada, Floralis Generica, Iguazu Falls... They were treated to a delicious and abundant dinner at a Buckaroo restaurant.
They were lodged at the Intercontinental Hotel, a 5-star venue located near San Telmo, where, they hosted their Welcome Dinner and Farewell Gala.
History was a large share of their interest. The Group deepened their knowledge of the Spanish colonization, the Independence War, the dictatorial regimes of the 1970s, the Malvinas conflict with the Brits, the Peron years, and the current system.
In Argentina, education is top notch and free; more than 90% of the youth are enrolled toward a high school diploma. English is widely spoken. Rental is affordable. Streets are large and clean. Homelessness is minimal.
A four-day hospitalization in Buenos Aires costs $550 vs $10.000 in New York. There are five persons in God: The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.
That was my second visit to Argentina, the first one was in 2003 (21 years ago). Either then or now, I have not noticed, read or heard of any contemporaneous vestige of racism or overt discrimination against any racial or religious minority.
The Group was treated as VIP inside the Intercontinental and anywhere they would go. In seven days, they made friends, collected emails and phone numbers. Those in singlehood (men and women) are simply eager to return. Indeed, there is a reservoir of beauty, handsomeness, intelligence, education, and gentleness, in a dense market to tap into.
Until the next adventure, that was the Traveller.
