Great opportunity, beautiful place.

Are you a teen Interested in service learning? Would you like to learn how to build backcountry trails?

Ghost Ranch is hosting a Spring Break trail building clinic for high school age students. The clinic will combine coaching by Laura Hand, Outdoor Adventures Manager and hands-on experience. Trail building participants will also get the opportunity to work alongside Carson National Forest personnel and an Americorps team. The clinic will be 2 days and is offered twice: March 24-25 and March 26-27, 2025.

Skills learned including but not limited to: safe and proper use of trail building tools, bench cuts – breaking new trail, rock work and restoration of old trail back to natural landscape.

SnowHike today with visitors from Dallas. Great time. Still a winter wonderland on Winsor Trail upstream from Nor-Ski trailhead at 10,000 feet. Tesuque Creek crossing frozen solid on top. Approaching wilderness gate, looks like more snow the higher you go. Boot traction devices great way to hike now. LessTraveledTrails.com

Today, a quick scouting hike at the south end of Winsor Ridge. Part Trail #171 and part cross country. Quite dry, NOT where I'm taking visitors SnowHiking, but it was delightful. Parking at Cowles Ponds, it's the end of the road up from Pecos, with 3 typical winter road closures: Jack's Creek campground, Winsor Creek trailhead, and Panchuela campground.
