SnowHike today with visitors from Dallas. Great time. Still a winter wonderland on Winsor Trail upstream from Nor-Ski trailhead at 10,000 feet. Tesuque Creek crossing frozen solid on top. Today, a quick scouting hike at the south end of Winsor Ridge. Part Trail #171 and part cross country. Quite dry, NOT where I'm taking visitors SnowHiking, but it was delightful. Parking at Cowles Ponds, it's the end of the road up from Pecos, with 3 typical winter road closures: Jack's Creek campground, Winsor Creek trailhead, and Panchuela campground. Explore the wilderness of Bandelier National Monument with Less Traveled Trails for three days in early Fall. Monsoon rains over, cooler temperatures. Our back country community will cross the mesas, taking in vistas and walking by ancient communities, to our canyon campsite destination for two nights. Open to three backpackers. Deep Into the Backcountry

Seek out the less traveled trails of New Mexico’s backcountry, with Brian Johnson as your trip organizer and guide. Brian’s specialty is organizing and leading overnight backpack trips of two days or more, with trail routes and campsites carefully chosen. There is an amazing variety of high country and high desert terrain to explore, such as Valles Caldera National Preserve, Bandelier National Monument, Ghost Ranch, the Continental Divide Trail, and several National Forest wilderness areas. In addition to simply being in these incredible backcountry areas, Brian enjoys passing along stories on the rich history, culture, and natural resources. Brian Johnson has led outings in New Mexico since 1990 and is certified as a Wilderness First Responder, in CPR, and for Food Handling. Less Traveled Trails is authorized and insured for outings on public lands.
