Over 20 colorful murals are within walking distance of each other in the downtown area. These works of art vary in style and size, working together to share Gallup's rich and romantic history, patriotism and Native American culture. Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial
The Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial is one of New Mexico’s oldest annual events. Launched on September 28, 1922, organizers established the event to showcase Native American art, culture, and heritage. The 1922 Ceremonial was a small, community affair, attended primarily by Gallup locals, Navajo and Zuni artisans and dancers, and traders from the area. Dancers were paid a silver dollar. Attendees pulled into Lyons Memorial Park, circling their cars around bonfires, with the headlights illuminating the dancers. A large tent was erected next to the parking area for artisans and traders selling Native American jewelry, pottery, and handwoven rugs. Today, the nightly dances and art market are still integral to the Ceremonial.

The Open to the World Rodeo is a must-visit event, displaying a variety of programs such as saddle bronc riding and barrel racing.

Historic El Rancho Hotel | Since the 1940s the hotel has hosted some of Hollywood’s biggest movie makers and movie stars, including Robert Mitchum, Elia Kazan, Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Melvyn Douglas, William Holden, Billy Wilder, Kirk Douglas, Gregory Peck, Ward Bond, Lon Chaney, Jr., Jose Ferrer, Kim Hunter, Troy Donahue, Suzanna Pleshette, and many more. That list continues to grow, because El Rancho continues to host film crews in the area.
