We are a quartz crystal mine that offers you a chance to play in the dirt and an opportunity to look for crystals.. We are also a commercial mine as well, so certain areas are off limits to diggers. We have to abide by their rules.. So, with that out of the way, we try to offer you as close to a real mining experience as we can. Not all diggers like our mine, but this okay.. we can't please everyo

ne and there are other mines that will be happy to show you their mine. We have picnic tables, some shade trees, a plenty of dirt and rocks to look thru.. Fees are 25.00 for adults, 10.00 for ages 10-14 and 9 and under is free with paying adults. We are primitive. No services, no running water, no cell service most of the time. There are some out houses at Wash*ta corp camp ground and there is the Blue Bell in Story that is just a little over 2 miles north.. if you have any questions, need any special help or have some one with disabilities give us a heads up and we will do our best to help you, get you answers, or work with a special needs individual...

A Message from Bill Barnes:

Hi Folks! Well ... we are getting ready to get a lot of snow. And, no one knows for sure how this will impact us. We don't know about what power outages or road closures might occur at this time, but we've been through this over the years. Our crews are as ready as they can be, and we have extra staff staying at the resort through this weather event. We will react to the situation as it develops as best we can, using the resources we have acquired over years of responding to weather emergencies. Our generators will be operating at the Lodge, the Joplin Store, and the Joplin Inn. We will help folks every way we can. Call the Lodge with any questions or needs you have and let's all stay safe and be careful - and look out after each other.

Afternoon data is in and I have no changes, WINTER STORM coming!

Finally seeing higher resolution data today and it's very aggressive.

Some things I want to clear up...

-The entire state of Arkansas will likely see snow from this event. Extreme south Arkansas could battle ice/sleet.

-Accumulating snow is likely for a large part of Arkansas, if not the entire state.

-High end snow totals (4" - 8") are very possible in localized areas. I'm waiting for more data before pushing out amounts.

-The onset of this will be Thursday PM, probably in the early evening (across western Arkansas).

It will push into the entire state overnight and into Friday morning.

-Hazardous travel is almost a guarantee Thursday night and Friday due to heavy snow and ice accumulation.

-You have two days to prep and do whatever it is you do before this happens. I promise we'll be fine, not our first rodeo.

-Heavy wet snow could pose power outage issues, especially in areas with higher totals.

-Powdered donuts are the superior snack for a snow storm and I hope we can all agree on this.
