Before John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, there was Tom Mix—the original King of the Cowboys. 🤠

A star of nearly 300 Western films, Mix brought Hollywood to Glenwood Springs in 1926 to film The Great K&A Train Robbery in Glenwood Canyon. For three weeks, the town turned out to watch him and his famous horse, Tony, perform their own stunts!

Fun fact: The Glenwood Vaudeville R***e used to do a screening of The Great K&A Train Robbery that was accompanied by their 1918 Wurlitzer Photoplayer—an instrument they still in use in their show today!

We see you eyeing your fishing rod… March is right around the corner and you know what that means…. It’s almost time for early spring fly fishing!

With warming temps, active trout, and fewer crowds on the river, it’s the perfect time to wade in and cast a line.

Where the Hotel Maxwell Anderson now stands, there were once saloons, a grocery store, and rooming houses—each with its own story to tell. Over the years, these spaces were combined, expanded, and transformed into what became the historic Hotel Denver.

Through Prohibition, multiple owners, and decades of change, the hotel has remained a Glenwood Springs icon. In 1996, the Hotel Denver opened the award-winning microbrewery, Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company.

In 2024, the hotel was renamed the Hotel Maxwell Anderson by new owners and was recently remodeled with a nod to the hotel’s grand history and modern boutique charm.

You can feel the history when you walk in the door—come and experience it for yourself.

Outlaw, bank robber, Wild West legend—Kid Curry (aka Harvey Logan) lived fast and met his end right here in Glenwood Springs.

Once one of the most wanted men in America, Curry’s story came to a close after a dramatic train robbery, a stolen boat getaway, and a two-day chase across Colorado. Wounded and cornered near Mamm Creek in 1904, he chose to write his own final chapter.

Today, you can find his grave in Linwood Cemetery, not far from the famous Doc Holliday.
