❄️ WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY

As winter weather is set to sweep through, try to remember Spring is only 44 days way! From 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 p.m. Friday, snow and wind will let us know winter isn't over yet! Flagstaff is gearing up for a snowy four-to-six inches, Kachina Village five-to-nine inches, and Munds Park is prepping for eight-to-12 inches of snow.

But it's not just snow - the wind is joining the party, too, with forecasts of 15-to-25 miles per hour and gusts. If you need to travel, move cautiously and stay connected with the latest weather and road conditions.

begin this THURSDAY! But what does that mean?

During Stage 1, the following is prohibited AT ALL TIMES:
- Igniting, building, maintaining, or using a fire, including charcoal and briquettes. This includes smudge pots.
- Smoking outside.

But there are some exemptions:
- Using a stove or grill that is solely fueled by pressurized liquid petroleum or pressurized liquid petroleum gas (LPG) fuels.
- Having a campfire within a fire structure that is provided by the Forest Service within a designated area (Developed Recreation Site).
- Smoking within an enclosed vehicle or building, a Developed Recreation Site, or while stopped in an area at least three (3) feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty.

May is Wildfire Awareness Month, and Coconino County is hosting a special night of information and preparation at the historic The Orpheum Theater in Downtown Flagstaff on Friday May 19 at 6:00pm.

This event is FREE and features guest speakers, information tables, and video focusing on wildfire and flooding awareness and prevention. The keynote speaker is John L. Vankat, author of the book "The San Francisco Peaks and Flagstaff: Through the Lens of Time."
