That's a wrap on Sardinia, and I'm convinced there's no better way to experience the Costa Smeralda than by sea. We opted for a catamaran charter, but there are yachts, day charters and more to be had. I never post my client testimonials here, but this one made me a little teary 🥹 …I was hired by a company to plan trips for their top-performing employees and this one seemed extra special. Given how hard this client had worked, this couple never had time for a honeymoon and didn't really have an idea of where they wanted to go. After a long conversation about where they'd been (they both spend their vacation days serving in a mission in Central America), and just how long they'd been together, I knew this couple needed a bucket list trip for each other and for it to be EXTRA.

Reflecting on our family trip to NIHI this year and grateful for this time we spent together.

I’m hesitant to share our experiences here, as each day felt like a collection of sacred moments that I want to hold in my heart and memory forever. ❤️

I intentionally spent my days walking barefoot, working on grounding myself in the realness of it all. Taking this time to step away, disconnect and purposefully be present, allowed me to get back to reality in the office feeling relaxed, focused and ready to take on planning trips with ardent enthusiasm. MEMORIAL DAY

A day to remember the fallen.

This is a picture of Charlie escorting some of his fallen brothers home in 2012. It is a powerful reminder that our country's brave men and women in uniform fully understand the potential cost of serving our country, yet they go anyway.

The second picture is from 2016 after Charlie laid down his own life.

"There is a special sadness that accompanies the death of a serviceman, for we're never quite good enough to them-not really; we can't be, because what they gave us is beyond our powers to repay. And so, when a serviceman dies, it's a tear in the fabric, a break in the whole, and all we can do is remember.

It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country, in defense of us, in wars far away.

The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives -- the one they were living and the one they would have lived.

When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for our country, for us. And all we can do is remember.

There's always someone who is remembering for us. No matter what time of year it is or what time of day, there are always people who come to this cemetery, leave a flag or a flower or a little rock on a headstone.”
