All teams worked together to ensure these friendly felines were safely prepped and ready to go on an adventure to their new homes, which is another big step forward in our fire response efforts. These cats have either been surrendered by their former owners, have not been reclaimed, and/or have no signs of ownership.

🐾 Mahalo to Lanai Cat Sanctuary for our lifesaving partnership to transfer more than 200 outdoor-acclimated cats to their beautiful sanctuary on Lanai, in exchange for taking in 200 social cats to MHS.
🐾 Mahalo to Humane Society Silicon Valley for welcoming in these Maui and Lanai cats and placing them up for adoption or with rescue partners on the continent.
🐾 Mahalo to Greater Good Charities, who coordinated the charter flight and supervised the cats on their 5-hour flight to San Jose. Greater Good Charities also assisted MHS with a large transport of shelter pets to the continent immediately following the fires to make room for incoming fire survivors.
🐾 Mahalo to our very own CEO, Dr. Lisa Labrecque, who rolled up her sleeves and provided veterinary exams and health certifications for the 35 Lanai cats. Major mahalo to all MHS team members across various departments who worked together to make this happen!

Weather Alert: Expeditions Ferry for Monday Jan 15 and Wednesday Jan 17
Due to the forecast of a large weather front moving through the islands early this week Expeditions has cancelled ferry roundtrips (6:30am-5:30pm) for Monday January 15 through Wednesday January 17. Normal operations, weather dependent, are set to resume for Thursday January 18.
