We’re excited to share that our Head of Leisure,Jenny Zhao, received the Friendliest Managing Director award during Idolons at the Essence Phuket event, hosted by Serandipians!

In this category, Jenny was the only Managing Director from a DMC to receive this honor—joining a remarkable group of leaders across the luxury travel industry. It’s a true reflection of her warmth, professionalism, and the meaningful connections she builds with partners around the world.

It was also a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people—both old friends and new—at this inspiring event.

We’re proud to have Jenny leading our leisure team here at WildChina!

Chengdu is a very special city in China. Life here moves at the same unhurried pace as its most famous residents—the giant pandas. It’s a perfect destination for family adventures, where days are filled with moments that bring you closer: watching pandas play beneath bamboo canopies, wandering ancient streets lined with teahouses, and sitting down together to enjoy the city’s most iconic dish—Sichuan hotpot, famous for its fiery, flavorful broths.

🎍In our latest article, we share some of our favorite family-friendly experiences in Chengdu. From preparing food for pandas at Dujiangyan Panda Base, to exploring the misty landscapes that inspired Kung Fu Panda, and crafting dumplings in a local kitchen, Chengdu offers moments of connection and discovery for travelers of all ages.

🐼Chengdu is also home to our local office, where our travel designers live, work, and carefully craft WildChina journeys. And if you have a moment while in the city, you can even meet your travel designer in person for a cup of jasmine tea.

On Tuesday, March 18, join us for a very special webinar exploring the extraordinary stories of courage, resilience, and partnership between Chinese communities and Western aviators during WWII. Leading this conversation are Melinda Liu, award-winning journalist and daughter of an Honorary Doolittle Raider, Mei Zhang, founder of WildChina and expert in curating meaningful journeys through China, and Alan Babington-Smith, founder of the RASBJ Royal Asiatic Society Beijing and a lifelong historian.

As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII in the Pacific Theater, they’ll bring to life the remarkable tales of the Doolittle Raiders, the Flying Tigers, and the Hump pilots —aviators who faced extraordinary risks and forged lasting bonds with their Chinese allies. These stories—of heroism in the skies and solidarity on the ground—are powerful reminders of the deep connections forged in times of adversity.

Discover how travel allows us to walk in their footsteps, keeping these legacies alive for future generations.

As International Women’s Day approaches, we take a moment to reflect on the often-overlooked contributions of women in history—especially those who shaped the course of WWII in China, as this year marks the 80th anniversary of the war’s end.

While wars are often remembered for battles and generals, victory was not won by soldiers alone. Women worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines—building airstrips, treating the wounded, sheltering those in danger, and risking their lives to support the war effort. They stood as pillars of strength in the face of destruction, proving that resilience, courage, and sacrifice take many forms. Though their names may not be in history books, their impact shaped the course of war and history itself.

In our latest article, we’ve gathered remarkable stories of these women—those who defied the odds, changed the war’s trajectory, and left behind a lasting legacy of courage.

📖 Read the full article: https://loom.ly/B3wJ8gc

And while we look back to honor them, we also celebrate the women of today—those who continue to shape the world, break barriers, and redefine possibilities. Their strength, just like that of the women of WWII, drives change and inspires generations to come.

In this guide, Paul takes us through Sha Tin—where he grew up—and the Central and Western District, where old and new Hong Kong blend seamlessly. From nostalgic street-side eateries to scenic hiking trails and historic markets, these places hold personal memories and reveal the city’s evolving charm.

Every year, our leisure team gathers from across China and beyond for our annual travel week—a rare and cherished opportunity for us to step away from our screens, meet face-to-face, and reconnect not just as colleagues, but as travelers. It’s a time to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and remind ourselves why we do what we do: to explore, experience, and bring authentic journeys to life for others. More than just a meeting, it’s a journey in itself—one that deepens our understanding of a destination and strengthens the bonds within our team.

This year, we ventured to Chongzuo, a hidden gem on China’s southern border with Vietnam, just beginning to capture the interest of local travelers. Led by WildChina’s local guide, Michael, we explored the region’s stunning landscapes, rich culture, and unique experiences—gaining firsthand insight into what makes Chongzuo so special.

Over the past two years, China has made travel more accessible for international visitors, introducing visa-free entry options and extending transit visa exemptions. The latest update offers even greater flexibility—eligible passengers can now stay visa-free for up to 240 hours (10 days) in select cities. That’s enough time to sip tea in a Beijing hutong, stroll the Bund in Shanghai, or venture beyond the usual layover spots.

To help you navigate these updates, we’ve put together a comprehensive guide answering the most common questions about the 240-hour transit visa, including eligibility, applicable regions, and key travel tips. Whether you’re making a short stopover or planning to explore further, this guide will help you make the most of your time in China.

While Valentine’s Day is a beautiful reminder to celebrate love, we believe romance deserves to be cherished year-round. Whether it’s a honeymoon, an anniversary, a spontaneous romantic getaway, or simply a moment to reconnect, China offers unforgettable settings for creating lasting memories.

Imagine cycling through sugarcane fields in Chongzuo, sipping wine in a hidden desert vineyard in Ningxia, or gliding across Hangzhou’s legendary West Lake at sunset.

As the world starts planning for the holiday season, here's WildChina's guide on where to travel in China in summer.

Formed in 1941 by General Claire Lee Chennault, a retired U.S. Army officer, the Flying Tigers were a fearless group of American pilots who volunteered to defend China. Later integrated into the U.S. military, they grew to include Chinese and Chinese-American airmen, united under the Flying Tigers name. With their shark-toothed P-40 Warhawks, they struck deep into enemy lines, disrupting Japanese supply routes and defending China’s most critical territories. Through sheer courage and determination, they lifted China’s spirit in its darkest hour. Their relentless defense of western China played a pivotal role in the conflict, turning them into a symbol of resistance and hope.

In partnership with the Royal Asiatic Society China, Beijing, we’ve curated a special travel series for the 80th anniversary of WWII: Allied Victory: Western Aviators and WWII Battlefields of China.

This exclusive program features two expert-led journeys, each bringing history to life—one honoring the legacy of the Doolittle Raiders, and the other retracing the footsteps of the Flying Tigers across China’s wartime landscapes.

🚗 Epic Road Trips Through China

Some roads don’t just take you from place to place—they transport you through history, landscapes, and cultures that few have truly explored. From the Silk Road’s desert highways to the misty mountain passes of Yunnan, some of China’s most unforgettable journeys happen on the road.

The G312 highway stretches from Shanghai to Lanzhou, shifting from futuristic skylines to mist-covered mountains, then unraveling into the winding path of the Yellow River. The G108 winds south from Beijing, threading through ancient towns, deep gorges, and the soaring peaks of Yunnan. Each stretch of the road unveils a new chapter—majestic landscapes, cultural treasures, and local flavors waiting to be explored.

Some of us at WildChina are avid road-trippers, always seeking out China’s most scenic and storied routes. If you’re dreaming of hitting the open road, we’ve mapped out some of the most breathtaking drives in our latest article.

As the world starts planning for the holiday season, here's WildChina's guide on where to travel in China in summer.

In April 1942, just months after Pearl Harbor, 80 brave U.S. airmen launched a daring bombing mission over Tokyo, led by Lt. Colonel James H. Doolittle. After the raid, they crash-landed in China, facing unfamiliar terrain and uncertainty. But instead of hostility, they were met with compassion. Chinese villagers, risking their lives despite language barriers and cultural differences, sheltered and protected the stranded airmen, reflecting the true spirit of cooperation and shared humanity in the chaos of the world's most devastating war.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of WWII, in partnership with the Royal Asiatic Society Beijing, we’ve curated a special series of journeys: Allied Victory: Western Aviators and WWII Battlefields of China. This includes two extraordinary expert-led trips—one honoring the legacy of the Doolittle Raiders and another tracing the footsteps of the Flying Tigers.
