When Hugh Nini and Neal Treadwell stumbled across a photo from the 1920s of two men in a tender embrace they thought it was one-of-a-kind. But things changed when they found more photographs. The result of their unexpected discovery is a moving book, portraying male romance over the course of a cent...

About Cruising Polar Bears
Cruising Polar Bears is part of TLO Cruises and Tours, and is a group specifically created for senior gay males who want to travel with like-minded men who are supportive, caring and kind. The primary goal of Cruising Polar Bears is to create a nurturing community, which brings men together from all around the world who not only like to travel, but who want to meet other men for fellowship and emotional support.
Don’t let the name of the group fool you. Cruising Polar Bears is open to all like-minded adult men who are caring, supportive and kind, regardless of age (and regardless of color of hair or degree of baldness!)
For our inaugural event we have planned a 14 night transatlantic cruise on Celebrity Infinity, which will be departing Fort Lauderdale, FL on April 22, and arriving in Barcelona, Spain on May 6. Along the way, there will be stops in the Azores, Portugal and 4 ports in Spain (Cadiz, Malaga, Alicante and Barcelona).
This group cruise has been planned to be much more than a “regular” cruise you could plan on your own. First and foremost, are pleased to welcome aboard award-winning author, Dr Loren Olson, MD as a guest on our inaugural voyage. He will be presenting three different days on age related topics in the ship’s main theater. If you haven’t heard Loren speak, you are in for a real treat. He is warm and caring, and will answer your most difficult questions with compassion and integrity.
We are also planning pre- and post-cruise events, including a welcome aboard get-together aboard ship. Additionally, our group is scheduled to eat together with early seating for dinner, so you won’t have to dine with a group of strangers. The early seating will allow us to attend the second show each night in the theater for those so inclined. Also, you will probably want to enjoy a variety of shore excursions while in port, and we can help you select tours that fit your interests, lifestyle and budget. You can take part in everything, or you can pick and choose what you would like to do while on the trip. Remember, this is your vacation!
TLO Cruises and Tours can also assist you with flights to Fort Lauderdale or flights home to your destination city, hotel accommodations in either Fort Lauderdale or Barcelona (if you wish to extend your stays) and transfer accommodations. We are a full service travel agency. Just ask!
Cruising Polar Bears is planning additional events for the fall of 2019 and beyond. Once again, our intention is to build a supportive community through travel. Some of our futures travel plans include a Rocky Mountaineer Train trip through Canada, a fall foliage cruise through New England and eastern Canada, a cruise through the Panama Canal, an Alaskan Cruise, and perhaps even cruises to Australia, Hawaii, Southeast Asia or the Amazon, if there is enough interest. Of course, there will also be more trips planned to the British Isles, continental Europe and beyond. We are looking for your suggestions and your input on where you would like to go. The world is the limit, so to speak.
We sincerely appreciate all the attention and excitement our inaugural event has created. I know some of you personally, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you who has reached out in support, since our group was created, and there are many of you.

TLO Cruises and Tours and Cruising Polar Bears has been created as an outtake from my own personal caregiving experiences. The original idea behind the concept was to provide respite opportunities for caregivers, as well as a place for people to meet and greet after caregiving ends. We hope you will join us as we travel the world together--as a community.
