his task will require a coach who is patient, personal, and knows when to push or pull back on a rider. With experience and understanding, Spoked coaching will offer an inclusive mountain biking experience. Spoked is owned and operated by Caroline Westray, a PMBI (Professional Mountain Bike Instructor) certified coach who has taught women’s bike clinics around the country, including at the Moab Hodown in Moab, Utah, Mammoth Mountain Women’s Weekend with Leigh Donovan in Mammoth, California, and Ray’s Women’s Weekend at Ray’s Indoor Bike Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Caroline began racing BMX bikes at 10, contending against the boys as one of the few girls in the sport in North Carolina. After competing nationally for nearly 10 years and achieving her highest rank of second in the nation, Caroline began racing downhill mountain bikes and slalom while in college at Appalachian State University in Boone. She made it to the podium at Colligate Nationals in Truckee, California and continued to climb to the top of the podium in local and regional races in the Southeast. Her greatest accomplishment was taking first place in slalom and second place in downhill at the Sea Otter Classic in 2013. In 2015, Caroline will race as a professional at a few select races across the country.
