That's a wrap for the 2024 / 2025 Antarctic season! 100% summit success for our teams on the year.

This season seemed to have it all. From harsh winds and days waiting in camp to make the next move, to sunny skies, calm winds, hooting and hollering as we climbed our way to the highest point on the frozen continent! We feel so lucky to have gotten to share time with awesome people in a very special place.

Congratulations to all of our climbers on and epic, and hugely successful season! As our last team prepares to fly off of Antarctica, we are filled with joy and already getting excited to come back next year...

Booyah!!! We are thrilled to share that 100% of our final Mount Vinson expedition team of the season successfully reached the roof of Antarctica!

After slapping high-fives and celebrating on the summit, the team descended down to their high camp, packed up their things, and continued all the way to base camp! A strong team that brought the excitement all expedition, the team is now enjoying the comforts of their base camp and celebrating their achievement of climbing one of the famed seven summits, Mount Vinson! Congratulations to the entire team on a hard fought and well earned summit.

It's been another unforgettable season on the frozen continent and we're already getting psyched to be back next year.

Joining our Aconcagua expedition is legendary mountaineer Ed Viesturs!

Ed has successfully reached the summits of all of the world’s fourteen 8000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen, an 18-year project he christened Endeavor 8000. His goal was completed on May 12, 2005, with his ascent of Annapurna one of the world’s most treacherous peaks. He is one of only a handful of climbers in history to accomplish this.

Turning back the clock: history on K2 in 2014! ⏰

Check out these rad photos from the 2014 K2 expedition! On July 27th, 2014 Garrett Madison, Alan Arnette, and Matthew Dupuy stepped onto the summit of K2. This marked the first ever successfully guided commercial mountaineering expedition on the savage mountain.

Madison Mountaineering has successfully repeated the ascent 4 more times since 2014. We look forward to being back on the mountain again this June!

After challenging flying conditions delayed the teams flight to base camp, the team was psyched to get the call that they were on deck and would be boarding their flight to Vinson next! Spirits are high and our team has begun the climb, making their move up to low camp today.

Everest add-ons: Nuptse 🗻

Adjacent to Everest & Lhotse, the summit of Nuptse (7,861m/25,791ft) has only been reached by a handful of climbers. In combination with Everest & Lhotse, climbing Nuptse is known as the ‘triple crown’. The route is steep and unrelenting, similar to portions on the Ama Dablam and K2 climbing routes that we do in the fall / summer seasons.

Madison Mountaineering as a team has completed the triple crown two years running - a feat that few climbers have ever finished an no other guide service has ever done.

Everest add-ons: Lhotse, the world's fourth-highest peak 🗻

Join us for a double header on Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse! Back in 2011, Garrett Madison helped pioneer this 'twofer' and has repeated it 5 times since, along with many climbers and guides on our teams.

Reaching the summit on two of the 8000 meter peaks within a day is a huge accomplishment, an incredible way to experience climbing a second 8000 meter mountain after having climbed Everest.

Reasons to climb Everest and Lhotse in the same expedition:
1️⃣ You save big on expedition costs and time compared to doing these as separate expeditions
2️⃣ Well acclimated and tuned up for high altitude climbing - generally doing the Lhotse summit after Everest is manageable for our climbers
3️⃣ It's a fantastic view gazing back upon Everest from the summit of Lhotse

CUMBRE! 100% summit success on Aconcagua 💥

Our team of 11 climbers topped out after a hard fought expedition, which culminated at 6961m / 22,837ft, the highest point outside of Asia! The celebration commenced only for a moment with summit photos, hugs, and high-fives before starting the descent.

Blue skies and all smiles on top of the frozen continent! 🧊

The Madison Mountaineering team reached the summit of Mount Vinson on January 8th! Seven amazing clients from around the globe with our two guides, Garrett and Benny stepped onto the summit and embraced with hugs and high-fives as they relished in their accomplishment and the experience of climbing in such an amazing place.

Mount Everest Express: door to door in 29 days! ⚡️

History was made in 2013 when two climbers joined Garrett halfway through the Mount Everest season. These men had each pre acclimatized at homes in a chamber over their beds for one month and then flew directly to the mountain via helicopter where they integrated with the regular climbing team. From that point on (April 26th) they climbed on schedule with the regular team that Garrett led, and summited with the team on May 18th. They experienced no negative effects, and performed well overall. They were door to door in less than a month, marking the first time that an expedited schedule of this length had been accomplished for guided climbers on a commercial Mount Everest expedition.

Again, 100% summit success on Mount Vinson! 🎉

It comes with great pleasure to share that all members of the Madison Mountaineering Mount Vinson expedition team reached the roof of Antarctica today!

Under blue skies and with excellent views of the surrounding Antarctic expanse, our team walked together up the final ridge on their way towards the top. Coming together on the summit, all nine climbers embraced with hugs, high-fives, and a birthday celebration for one of our team members, Alina! Now safely back in high camp, the team will get some rest before packing up and heading back down to base camp tomorrow.

Three successful expeditions have already come to a close in the last few weeks, and our team currently climbing some of Ecuadors highest peaks are getting ready for ascents on Cotopaxi and Chimborazo now! Let's go, team.

At around 6,000 meters each, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo offer excellent climbing and training opportunities for new and seasoned mountaineers alike!

No Mount Everest expedition is complete without a Puja Ceremony. After arriving in base camp, settling into our temporary home, and taking in the views out our tent doors, the team gathered together on our Puja day. The Puja ceremony is an essential step in our Himalayan expeditions. Joined by a Buddhist Lama, our team gathered around the altar, carefully crafted for a session of prayer to ask the mountain for safe passage as our team prepares to begin their acclimatization rotations. What a season it was... Most expeditions in Antarctica are unforgettable, and this season was no exception! This season was full of firsts, highlights, and broken records! Congratulations to everyone on their ascents and special shout-out to a few for their 'firsts' and world records: 🗻 On December 24, 2023, Art Muir successfully reached the summit of Mount Vinson making him now believed to be the oldest person to climb Mount Vinson. 🗻 On January 19, 2024, Craig Barlow reached the summit of Mount Vinson and completed his seven summits journey. 🗻 On January 8, 2024, Thais Herrera became the first Dominican to climb Mount Vinson. 🗻 Garrett Madison successfully reached the summit of Mount Vinson for his 27th time, co-led by Benny Lieber reaching the summit of Mount Vinson for his second time. A combined 20 clients reached the summit with Madison Mountaineering guides Garrett & Benny over three climbs during the past month. Madison Mountaineering is the premier provider of high altitude expeditions worldwide, specializing in Mount Everest and K2. We also organize expeditions to the Antarctic’s Mount Vinson, the world’s “Seven Summits”, as well as unclimbed peaks in extremely remote regions.

Every year since 2014, we have led expeditions on all seven continents, including three of the highest mountains in the world. Detailed accounts of our most recent expeditions can be found in our Dispatches.
