Quick heads up, though – the industry has changed a lot over the last decade and the travel world has a low barrier to entry allowing some less than experienced advisors into your feed, and that’s where things can get tricky. When trusting someone with your hard earned money set aside for your vacation, grill them a bit! Ask about their personal experiences, if they’ve been to the destinations they’re planning for you, and what they really know about those places. Your travel planner should be a pro with local connections in destination and lots of training under their belt. It’s like choosing a hairstylist or financial advisor – you want someone skilled, experienced, and thoroughly vetted. Your cousin that is a Disney expert may not be the best fit to plan your European vacation. Make sure you’re in good hands with someone you trust.

Costa Rica’s definitely has a dry and rainy season but don’t be deterred away from rainy season if you want to visit during the summer or fall. A visit here is not complete without going inland to the rainforest. My best tip is to skip the beach and enjoy the real Costa Rica.
