The fruit depicted in this picture is an edible fruit called Calamondin better known in Palauan as "King Kang".

This fruit has a natural citrus flavor that locals enjoy mixed with soy sauce as a dipping sauce for sashimi or stirred with water and sugar to make homemade lemonade.

You can find this fruit hanging from trees located all throughout Palau, especially in the sandy state of Ngiwal.

Uosech is a tree from the fig family. The fruit depicted in this picture is that of the Uosech. It is edible however, the skin of this fruit needs to be scraped off before consumption, if not, it may cause an irritation to the tongue and mouth.

Back in the day, this particular fruit was known to be a delicious snack when scraped and wrapped with a leaf of the Amra tree also known as Titimel.

Chum is the Palauan name for Hermit Crab. They are known to live in tiny shells to protect themselves from predators and can be found throughout different areas in Palau. They are known for hiding in their shell but you may get lucky with a little "peek-a-boo" if you sing this little chant over and over to them:

"Chum chum bem tobed ra blim a soldau a osiik er kau" (3x)
