Don't judge your future family member by how they are in a kennel at the shelter/rescue... ask for their history, (they cannot tell you, they are just overwhelmed/scared and unsure) .. then MEET them... truly spend time outside with them.. get to know them.. the treasure lies deep sometimes!!! and once they come home, practice the 3/3/3 rules! (see comments)

It happens... not oftern, but it does.. and I will give Kudos to NCL, they are making it up to the folks... They had disembarked from the Norwegian Encore on Friday, July 12 to see a lumberjack show that they booked through the cruise line
Dad said when they tried to get back to the ship, the local tour operator had told them to wait for the next bus. But that bus never arrived.

The Gault family said they called the local port agent who rushed them to the ship, only to see it already pulling away from the dock.
A spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line told ABC News in an emailed statement that the company "will be reimbursing the family for all of the out-of-pocket expenses they incurred over these two days, as a result of missing the ship in Ketchikan, including meals, accommodations, etc.
NCL said it has "initiated the process to refund the family for the fee imposed by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, as a result of the guests not visiting a foreign port prior to returning to the U.S., as required when an itinerary originates from the U.S. in accordance with the Passenger Vessel Services Act."

Additionally, the cruise line representative told ABC News that "these guests will be receiving a pro-rated refund for the two cruise days they missed."

"As a gesture of goodwill, the company will also be providing each of the nine guests with a Future Cruise Credit in the form of a 20% discount of their cruise fare that can be used towards their next voyage," the spokesperson said.

When you leave your cruise ship for an excursion, always bring a government-issued photo ID and the name and number of the port agent, who is the best person to help travelers who may run into trouble.

As France readies for the Olympics, I was reminiscing about the 70's at River Dell... I was a proud member of the VARSITY gymnastics team, a team we fought HARD to get! and had to fight HARDER to keep and get respect... We had to tailor our practices around the boys schedule (RD was a powerhouse) and undaunted, we came in at 6 am, set up all the equipment (uneven bars/vault/that gigantic floor mat, my beloved balance beam and then have it all stowed when basketball, etc came in!) the set up /breakdown was a workout in itself -- in these years 1970-1974 Cathy Rigby was the first US gymnast to win an individual medal at a World Championships then Olga Korbut won 6 medals and Nadia became the first to win all around at the Olympics and it was REAL!
Now Miss Hezly Rivera from Oradell... on her way to Paris right now!! WOW!!!

The teenager competed at trials like she had nothing to lose, and now she’s joining the oldest, most decorated U.S. women’s gymnastics squad in history.

here is some fun/great info and pix -- ElDorado Suites Resort was a big hit!!!

The silent dance party was a blast! You can switch your headset to different songs. Red, blue and green offer different music.But you'll see 1/2 the people singing along to 1 song & you'll see everyone changing their headset to sing along. This is one the beach, so they set up a beach bar in the sand.. A full bar is about 20 feet away, off the beach.

Ron at the tequila bar, us at the beach cabana, my lunch at the driftwood, the butterflower pic was just walking around the resort property. The flower centerpieces are everywhere throughout the resort. Pic of me at the Italian restaurant the bread was AMAZING..my dinner as well. Small portions(compared to usa) but we had the wonderful bread and appy's so the dinner portion was fine for both of us..I actually was happy about that, because I didn't over eat and we went to the dance party. Also 24 room service, so you can order anything to your room, if you are hungry for a late night snack. I truly recommend the steak sandwich with fries.YUM. (request ketchup)
Ron and I had breakfast room service at least 4 times. They even delivered it to our pool patio area :) eldorado seaside suits, this was our spa day. it started with pool therapy, then sauna, ice room, 3 temp hot tubs. off to the beach for massages on the tower cabana. ended with lunch at the beach bbq
