I sure miss this pooch, "Gracie Face" as we sometimes called her. She was such a sweet companion on many of my scouting trips. Happily watching the scenery go by, especially the cows and horses, from her custom built perches in the back seats of my various trucks. She would often join me in the tent when it was chilly outside, rarely barked, and never left my side. You couldn't ask more from a four-legged companion. I miss you Grace.

One of my favorite sights, an open two-track for as far as I can see! This is the kind of view that inspires the heck out of me! Where does it lead to? What amazing camp spot will I find? And oh wow, those "peace and quiet" moments when you feel like you can truly relax.
I have two Overland events I'll be attending later this month where you can find me and we can chat "overlanding". Have you been to the Northwest Overland Rally in Plain, WA? (near Leavenworth) It's a beautiful location out in the mountains and a very fun and friendly event. They have a nice variety of vendors, interesting classes you can attend, evening bon-fires, raffles, trail drives and a cool little driving/challenge course (I won a very nice pelican cooler, back in 2019, from doing the challenge, which was to spill the least amount of water from a cup taped on the hood of your truck while driving the course, it was a blast!)
I have a booth there again and looking forward to seeing you there too!😃

"Teamwork makes the dream work!"
One of the key elements that I try to encourage during my tours and training is that working as a team to accomplish the goal of planning, exploration and overcoming adversity is much more fun and productive than two folks doing all of this as individuals only doing or knowing one aspect of these adventures. So jump in, you might learn a thing or two!😜👍
And, do you actually know how to change a tire? Do you have all the tools, can you pick up or know other ways to move that giant thing? Well, I can teach you a variety of ways to do this and many more complicated tasks that will help to keep you safe and able to 😃
(and if you think you are too old to do it, then think again, this couple is in their mid 70's!)

"Mission Control, we've landed, established a basecamp and the Rover is ready for exploration."
This was a great combo for exploring 3 separate desert regions over a 6 day period. The makes a great basecamp and of course the was a very capable "rover"😃👍

Here's a peak at that Motortrend/Lexus commercial I was in recently when Motortrend Magazine asked me to be the "overland expert" for a commercial they were making with the new Lexus GX 550. The most fun was that I was also the "stunt driver", sorry to the Lexus techs for all the mud!😂😘

Really been enjoying my time in this Bronco down here in the Anza Borrego. Flowers, history, amazing vistas, etc. But no, I did not attempt that last "squeeze" on the trail, not because it couldn't do it but because it's a loaner and doesn't have rock-sliders.😉
This truck has been very impressive! I'll be writing up a review for my newsletter next week.

I'd kind of forgotten what a beautiful park it is. I led a "Desert Awareness" backpacking course there many years ago for my Search and Rescue team and happy to get a quick glance at it again!😃
