Just a short drive from St-Rémy-de-Provence, sits the tiny village of Eygalières. With under 2000 residents, cobblestone streets and a 13th century castle perched on its hilltop, you will find the slow pace of this town a welcome respite.

Visit the Friday morning farmers market and stay for a meal at one of its amazing restaurants (Maison Hauche is Michelin rated!). Also a popular destination for cyclists, Eygalières will not disappoint.

A huge thank you to ES Party Decor and Dante’s restaurant for making Meghan’s college graduation day so special!

ES Party Decor knocked it out of the park with gorgeous balloons, and pretty centerpieces. They have everything you need to make the day special. Plus, they set up and break down so you don’t have to worry about a thing. My photos do not do justice to the beautiful arrangements they made.
Be sure to call them for your next event.

We enjoyed the beautiful day at Dante’s Bistro Bar & Grille on Calef Hwy, close to UNH. The outdoor patio space was perfect for our group. The food was fantastic and service was outstanding. I would’ve taken pictures of the food-vongole, Parm, Alfredo, salads, fresh pasta, meatballs, homemade bread, wings- but it was devoured in minutes. It always feels like home when we spend time at Dante’s, thanks Ario!

We made it into The Grey! Even though this place books up months in advance we were able to get a seat. Hint go by 5:00 which is when they let a few walk-ins to get a table or a seat at the bar. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff super friendly. I advise making reservations but if you can’t be an early bird!

Can I get a drum 🥁 roll, please?

I’m so excited to introduce Amy Gies, the newest advisor to join The World on the Fly family.

Please give her a warm welcome!👏👏👏

Amy has always been an avid traveler. She grew up exploring the US with her family. She visited the UK when she was 16 which started her passion for international travel. As an adult, she has planned trips for her friends and family, everywhere from Hawaii, to Costa Rica, to countries throughout Europe.

Realizing she was unofficially already in the travel advisor role it became an easy decision to make it official and turn it into a career.

Amy enjoys active vacations and loves to fill every second of her trip with something new. However, she can appreciate the relaxing getaways, and has put her toes in the sand in places like the Caribbean, Turks and Caicos and Mexico.

Amy specializes in customized European vacations but plans all types of trips to most places around the globe. She cannot wait to share her travel experience with you as she creates unique itineraries for your next trip.

Next month Amy will be doing a solo trip to Peru and is very excited to share her journey with you.

Be sure to follow along to learn all about her luxury hotel stays, immersive experiences, and multiple excursions.
🇵🇪
Welcome, Amy! We are so happy to have you on the team!

Next adventure? Glad you asked.
Tanzania!
Headed there in July to spend a few weeks discovering this beautiful country so we can share our experiences with you and help you navigate your trip there.
🦁

Tanzania is a country in eastern Africa. It borders Uganda to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Rwanda to the west. Tanzania’s geography includes savannahs, wetlands, grassland plains, and wooded forests. The climate can vary from hot in the plains to cool and temperate in the mountains. It is home to Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, and Lake Tanganyika, the world’s second-deepest lake.
🦒
Animals native to Tanzania include cheetahs, lions, wildebeests, gazelles, ostriches, elephants, and giraffes. Tanzania has the highest number of predators in Africa, and these include leopards, jackals, hyenas, and big cats. Reptiles include agama lizards and crocodiles.
🐊
My goal is to see them all with the help of Fish Eagle Safaris, one of partners specializing in Africa.
⛺️
We will be staying in luxurious tents, enjoying fine dining, and avoiding all the crowds.
🐘
It’s incredibly important to me, and our team at WOTF, that we don’t intrude, interrupt, destroy, or do anything harmful to the animals, and land that we visit. We are respectful and responsible and choose to only work with suppliers that feel the same way.
🛻
Because of that, we won’t interfere with the migration process by getting too close and/or overcrowding the animals. We leave no trace, and we give back to the local communities.

Our Captain’s dinner was a fun and fantastical affair.
The food, entertainment, and company were a joy.
I’m so impressed by .line ‘s ability to handle unexpected changes.
The poor weather was not an issue thanks to the skill of the crew who were able to find a port to hunker down in for an extra night.
Plus, our tour manager was able to find new things to do so we weren’t left twiddling our thumbs.
We even had surprise entertainment at dinner; a duo that played accordion and guitar and serenaded us with music from around the world.
It was so fun to sing along with people from South Africa, Norway, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Serbia, England, Hungary, Russia, Sweden, the US, and of course, Croatia.
We laughed and connected.
I highly recommend the intimate experience of small yacht cruises, especially around the islands of Croatia.

The markets in Split are so full of color. Saturday is when the locals visit the market to purchase their produce. It’s currently strawberry, pea, artichoke, asparagus, and lamb season.
Did you know that you can preserve hard cheeses by placing them in olive oil? No refrigeration needed. The asparagus is wild so the locals climb the hills and pick the asparagus.

It’s almost time for my trip to Croatia!

On Wednesday I’ll be making my way to Split where I’ll be meeting up with the crew of the MV Riva before heading out to town for a walk through the
bustling old town, and magnificent Diocletian Palace.

The next day we set sail for Korčula, the island best known as the birthplace of Marco Polo, where we’ll have a swim stop and lunch on board. Korčula Town is commonly referred to be
a “miniature Dubrovnik”, as it is encased by medieval stone ramparts and towers.

On day 3 we visit Hvar, the longest Island in the Adriatic and one of the sunniest;
known for lavish lavender fields and breath-taking beauty. In the afternoon we will join the guided tour
of the town’s historical landmarks - the Renaissance cathedral with its original tower, and the
oldest community theatre in Europe founded in 1612. In the afternoon we will hike to the top of the island for some breathtaking views of the area.

Our final day ends with a trip to Brač island where swimming is planned at the most famous
beach in Dalmatia – Golden Horn beach near Bol – whose promontory shifts from side to side as
the wind and waves constantly cause the shape to change. Bol is a typical fishermen’s village
converted into a popular tourist destination yet retaining its charm.

For our last evening onboard we join the Captain for
dinner while we enjoy live
entertainment onboard.

Follow along as I post pictures of the trip and be sure to reach out if you’re interested in taking a private cruise around the islands of Croatia.
With more than 60 small ships to choose from you’re sure to find a vessel that accommodates your style and budget!

In this part of the country the decision to date someone is based on whether or not you think Billy the Kid was a villain or a hero. Choose wisely.
Here at Blackwater Ranch you can find the burial site of Mr. Morton and Mr. Baker who were killed by the Regulators of The Lincoln County War, of which Billy the Kid belonged.
Talking with MaryJane who lives at Blackwater you’ll find out that her family is related to Emil Fritz, whose non-recovery of his life insurance policy was the trigger of The Lincoln County War. Although there are many versions of what started The Lincoln County War, the Fritz family will tell you to “follow the money” (Wally Ferguson) to learn the truth.
Billy the Kid and The Lincoln War are quintessential American West history. A visit to Lincoln County is a must do on your next visit to New Mexico.

Our last day in Portugal was filled with adventure.

We visited a castle, a palace…and the gardens filled with flora and fauna from around the world.

We had lunch in the coastal town of Cascais. We unsuccessfully avoided splashes from the waves, watched the locals fish and surf, and ate delicious fish.

Our evening included a tuktuk tour throughout the hilly neighborhoods of Lisbon, stopping along the way at a local market for a sangria and tapas before our photo shoot and extraordinary dinner with Portuguese nobility.

Pro Tip: We can schedule a photo shoot for your travel group. It’s a great way to remember a special trip, anniversary, birthday, family gathering, or to just get a good picture for your holiday card!

Today was spent discovering all things Porto.

We began a walking tour that started in the Sao Bento train station; a beautiful station depicting the pillars of Porto - industry, agriculture and textile. Beginning here is a great way to begin your immersion into this city, as all of these elements are evident throughout the city.

Markets are my favorite places in European cities because you can catch the essence of the culture there, so we went to the Bolhāo Market to see the famous sardines and blood sausages so commonly eaten here, amongst seeing the fresh flowers and other items sold.

Portugal produces incredible olive oil, so we were lucky enough to do a tasting, and found their oil to be fruitier and more fragrant than most I have had.

We followed up with a traditional Tasca lunch - beer and sandwiches followed by a tour of the Crystal Palace for a 360° view of the city.

It was an excellent day and and even better overview of Porto. The city’s tourism has increased dramatically in the past five years, and it’s not hard to see why; the people here are staunchly focused on maintaining the lifestyle and culture of the city, as it is safe, easy, walkable and just downright lovely.

We head to the Douro Valley tomorrow in continuing this wonderful journey with !

01/04/2023

The Douro Valley is a special place, meant to be enjoyed at a slower pace.

Quinta de Cima is a 6 bedroom home with view of the river.

We’ve already maneuvered the the winding, steep roads, taken a train ride, had a tour of a vineyard, and had lunch with wine pairings.

Tonight the house staff is preparing a divine dinner where we will enjoy wine from the estate and a family port.

Be on the lookout for the video where we opened a bottle of wine in a very interesting way.

I’m so glad that I arrived a day early to visit .
It’s a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of Porto. Each room is named after a famous figure (Andy Warhol, Alfred Hitchcock, Oscar Wilde, to name a few).
I was lucky enough to stay in the Coco Chanel room with views of the Douro fro my cozy balcony, a sitting area perfect for catching up on a little work, a soaking tub that is surrounded by the views of Porto and bed so comfy and linens so soft that it was difficult to get moving this morning.
The hotels common space is anything but common with the outside garden brought in, a relaxing indoor and outdoor pool area, and a luxurious spa.
Now that I’ve had my breakfast, which is included with the stay, I’m off to tour this fascinating city.
