People ask about packing all the time. We did almost carry on only going to Europe from Dec 9-22. We checked a mostly empty bag to bring things home because I had plans! I mean chocolate!
We had access to laundry on the ship and used it. Pricing was very reasonable and ended up costing us less than $50. So much easier than shlepping extra bags around.
Plane outfit- Duluth trading noga pants, 32 degrees base layer, light sweater jacket and light sweater. Important to layer on a plane! Compression socks and my sorel waterproof shoes. In my backpack I put my Eddie Bauer packable puffer jacket and a scarf.
Carry on clothes: 3 light sweaters, 1 black knit pants, 1 jeans and 1 fleece lined pants(never wore them), 3 bottom base layers(wore one as pj bottoms) , 2 top base layers, 5 pair underwear, 1 bra, 2 wool long compression socks, 2 regular long compression socks, 32 degrees on top, 3 hats, 2 gloves and 2 scarves one pair Ryka walking shoes, Eddie Bauer girl on the go rain coat(only wore 1-2days) put this into the checked bag.

What I found out once again…I don’t need that many clothes! I could have left out the fleece lined bottoms one less bottom layer , one hat (should have packed two of my knitted hats because they a very small) and one scarf. I also never use a hair straightener in Europe. I need to just stop taking it!

I noticed on the ship a lady who had some beautiful outfits. The last day I told her she looked so lovely and she explained that she’d lost her luggage and been wearing the same three outfits all week! I laughed and told her my story about my luggage in Europe. Moral of the story? Unless you are going somewhere you can’t find a primark or mall, don’t stress, always fly in a day early at least and no one really notices what you have on. Seems in fact if you want to make an impression, wear the same thing over and over again! lol.

I see all these posts about being content at home and not looking forward to things. That’s a bunch of bunk! You can be content and still look forward to traveling.
But there is something about getting back home. My chair, my coffee and my cat! Looking forward now to a wonderful Christmas with the family! I do say almost every trip that if it’s the last one I’m ever blessed to go on, I’ll be content at home with my memories. Maybe that’s what the memes mean. Contentment where you are.

Tomorrow we go home! We are all looking forward to seeing family and pets. Lol. Travel is exhausting but so much fun. We’ve seen things we never expected to see, we’ve broadened our minds to new things and we’ve eaten so many new and fabulous foods! Here’s to the next experience!

Afternoon in Zurich. Hitting one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe(it’s inside), we found a living Christmas tree! Lights just twinkled everywhere.
