Hope this made you chuckle on a Monday. 😂

But let’s talk about those pesky p*e spots! Dog’s urine is high in nitrogen. This concentrated nitrogen “burns” your lawn in the same way that too much fertilizer does. That’s why urine spots are often brown in the center, where the contact was greatest, and green around the edges, where the diluted urine acted as a fertilizer.

Some solutions:
💦 Water your lawn: The best way to reduce the damage to your lawn is to dilute the urine by saturating the spot with water immediately.
💦Water your dog: Make sure your dog is well hydrated to dilute the strength of the urine.
🍽Examine diet: Consult your vet to see if you are feeding your dog the right amount of protein. The nitrogen in urine comes from protein metabolism, and some dogs might benefit from a lower-protein diet.
🐾 Train your dog: Train your dog to go in a designated space away from the main lawn.

Lawn Aeration 101: The basic idea behind lawn aeration is your lawn & the soil under it need to breathe.

The build-up of lawn thatch makes it difficult for your lawn to breathe, so doing this service in the fall helps control it. Aeration also breaks up compacted soil, allowing water and fertilizer to permeate into the root zone. Grassy areas submitted to constant foot traffic (or car traffic-yikes!🚗) require lawn aeration more frequently than do out-of-the-way areas.

Overall, aerating your lawn is a simple yet highly beneficial way to keep your lawn healthy. Doctor's orders. 😉

A little Monday Q & A: Why do I have so much moss?

Shade, moisture and soil are a few reasons that you could have moss on your lawn. To remove it, we suggest raking up the moss, collecting it, and then applying lime.

Why is it important to clean up your pooch's p**p?

💩Dog P**p Isn't a Fertilizer Like Cow P**p!

Dog waste also contains nitrogen, which explains why your grass can turn brown or yellow in spots. The best way to keep your lawn green is to promptly clean up after your dog, or at least on a weekly basis.

Keep your lawn healthy during summer heat and minimize brown spots! 💧

Watering your lawn deeply during the hot weather helps to ensure that grass roots grow strong and deep, making the lawn more drought-resistant and promoting a green lawn. Aim to provide at least one inch of water per week, whether from rainfall or irrigation. The best way to achieve this is to water your lawn less frequently but for longer periods, allowing the moisture to pe*****te the
soil. Early morning is the best, as it reduces evaporation and the summer heat helps the grass to dry before evening, preventing fungal growth.

Skip mowing today. 🥵

Longer grass blades cool the soil by shading the ground, and they help retain soil moisture. Grass blades also lose more moisture when their tips are cut by mower blades, so letting grass intact retains more moisture.
