“Back in Ushuaia after the most EPIC adventure of my life. These are just some of my favourite photos and moments from the trip, in no particular order and just a small sample of what’s to come. Pictures won’t do it justice.

To all my new friends, thank you for making this the best three weeks of my life, thank you for the conversations, the laughs, the memories. I miss our little red ship so much. To our Expedition Team, thank you for everything, I don’t have the words to express my gratitude for the many many laughs, the jokes, your knowledge, your kindness.

"🥾 Most people opt for the Inca Trail in Peru to Machu Picchu but permits sell out fast OR maybe you don’t want to hike for 4 days. 🥾

✨ Here is why the Lares Trek is for you ✨

🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️ Way less crowded than the Inca Trail: we didn’t pass even one group on our three day trek! It’s just you and the mountains.

⏳ It’s a 3 day trek with day one and two being shorter and not full days. Day two is only an hour and a half and the rest of the day you make your way towards Machu Picchu!

💺 There is an epic train to Machu Picchu so why hike there. 🤪

↗️ The elevation is higher than the Inca Trail but you only climb up once and then you go downhill! In the Inca trail, it’s constant uphills and downhills.

Honestly the lack of crowds had us 😏 our experience was amazing! We went with G Adventures and our group had only 3 people including us. We took plenty of breaks, we climbed up 500 m on day one, 1000m on day 2 and went down on day 3. The trail had the cutest dogs, llamas, and alpacas but also the best views. ⛰️🏔️⛰️⛰️⛰️ We got fed three course meals and our camp sites had toilets too! The meals were prepared with fresh ingredients and we had so much help on the hike! We’d pick out fresh eucalyptus from trees and just learn so much about life in Peru. We also stumbled on an archaeological site on our way down!"

Changing the world through travel: that’s been our goal since 1990. Sure, call us dreamers (wouldn’t be the first time), but that idea has been at the heart of everything we’ve ever done and has helped us grow into one of the biggest adventure travel companies on the planet. *woot woot* But, to us, being big is meaningless if it comes at the expense of making someone else feel small. You know what… let’s drop the metaphors and get straight to the point: G Adventures is a social enterprise as much as we are a small group travel company. We’ve been pioneers of community tourism since the day we first headed out into the world 30 years ago. What does that mean? That our tours, created by building meaningful relationships with local communities, directly benefit the people and places we visit. We’ve always believed travel can help local communities, Indigenous peoples, women, youth — anyone who has traditionally been marginalized or undervalued. Because there's incredible power in being part of something bigger than yourself. Today, our definition of community tourism means that the communities we impact ripples far beyond our destinations. To us, it includes our employees, supplier and agent partners, small business owners, customers, social followers, and travellers just like you. Because when we all come together, we have the power to realize the full potential of our global community. When you travel with us, you aren’t traveller #251,468. We think of you as our friend, a part of and contributor to our community, enjoying enriching experiences that give back and help make the world better.
