Thirteen years after the tours began; four years after having to close when Amazon, Groupon, and LivingSocial stole the business through their daily deal sites together with a tour imposter from New York; and two years after a brief reopening, we reopened again for one more tour, for a dear returning Tourguest and his doctor colleagues! What a fun, fascinating, and delicious time, as we explored fine and craft chocolate and pastry, plus the history and health benefits of chocolate!

Hello! update: Click for a Financial Times article on child slave labor on cacao farms. Background: 2.1 million children in West Africa work in hazardous conditions, and see their schooling disrupted or non-existent, so that Big Chocolate can buy inexpensive cacao while local families stay in poverty. My tips to make sure your chocolate is child slavery free: choose small-batch chocolate makers, read the label to look for the cacao country of origin, and look for a non-industrial ingredients list. And, let your favorite brands know you want them to value people over profits. Thank you! Onward and upward!
