As falcons choose their cliffside nests,
We pause our steps, respect their quests.
Closed paths protect their fragile brood,
Ensuring peace for falconhood. ✌️🦅

Let’s pause our steps, let nature be,
Guarding falcons, wild and free.
Their season’s short, our wait not long,
In their flight, our park stays strong.🌳💙

Meet Big Bend's speedy resident, the Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus)! More than just a cartoon character, this real-life bird is known for its incredible running speed, clocking up to 20 mph to sn**ch up prey. These birds are also fierce, sometimes taking on rattlesnakes! Always a sight to behold, their agility and zest make them one of the desert’s most fascinating creatures.

Imagine looking up and seeing the entire Milky Way stretched across the night sky. It used to be a common sight for everyone, but today, light pollution has erased that wonder for most of us.
At places like Big Bend, where Dark Skies still shine, you can experience the universe as it was meant to be seen. But light pollution doesn’t just affect our stargazing—it severely impacts wildlife. Bats, frogs, owls, and birds all depend on the night for hunting and navigating, but bright city lights confuse them, disrupting their survival. Millions of birds die each year from flying into illuminated buildings.
We all have a role to play in reducing light pollution: turn off unnecessary lights, draw your curtains, and advocate for improved city lighting regulations. Let’s give the night—and its inhabitants—a chance to flourish. 📸 Credit: .
