Monte Alban, the ancient capital of the Zapotec people, was named by the Mexicas and Zapotecos as Monte Jaguar. However, the Mixtecos called it Green Hill (Cerro verde) .

Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1987 it is a region that deserves to spend at least a couple of days on your itinerary to get to know the pre-Hispanic monuments, its Palace, the Ball Game courts and the Observatory. And then travel to Atzompa, to see the more than 1200 years old tombs.

From December 16 to 24, the traditional posadas are held in Mexico. The most anticipated moment of the celebration is when the piñata is broken.
The most traditional is the one with 7 peaks, which represents the capital sins. It can be made of clay or cardboard, lined with colorful china paper, and filled with seasonal fruits, peanuts, sweets and even confetti.
